The story I got from the guys who were there is that he kidnapped the girl, brought her behind Mac's to rape her. She somehow got away from him and ran to the back door of the store and started banging on it trying to get in. The two guys there KC and Greg let her in and he followed, he started pushing Greg, no gun was evident, when Greg started going WTF that when he pulled the gun. Our stores have floor safes and he bent over to get the cash and the chick booted him in the face, so he tackled her then pistol whipped her a couple of times then saw that the cops were coming and took off. On a side note they hit the panic button, and the cops were there before the security company called to ask if everything was OK.With a panic/hold up button the monitoring company does not call the premises. They dispatch the police immediately.

The national hit percentage for police in shootouts is something like 9%...So for every 100 shots fired, only 9 hit their intended target.

That's probably worse than the gangbangers hit percentage... Seriously it's not that fucking hard to hit a person in the majority of those situations... I'd be pretty pissed if I missed 9% of the time...

Pretty much the safest place to be in a shootout with that kind of hit rate is downrange. Either way you have to factor in the fact that many large city PD's are full of people who've never held a gun until they joined the force. Then factor in nerves, adrenaline, and moving targets, and thats probably why it is so low. The moorhead one sounds like 20 shots TOTAL were fired...which means he shot at them and they shot back. So this shootout has at least a 10% hitrate by the PD, higher than the national average if all 20 were fired by the MPD, since he fired some though, the hit rate is higher. Still nothing to go home and brag about, but better than the naional average.
The Red River Valley SWAT team also outperforms SWAT teams like the LA and Dallas SWAT in competitons too. So we do have above par police up here...
