Salvage Title
-
I am looking at buying a 95 or 94 hatch and the owner told me it had a salvage title because of an accident, he said it was professionally fixed etc etc. He wants $3300 for it and it has 105,000 orginal miles. He also told me it booked for $5500 still. So for my questions, would you do this? When i go to register this car am I going to get harassed by the DMV? Will there be any troubles I will run into if i ever want to sell the car? Also is there any general stufff i should know? He has all the pictures of the car after the accident. Its from a dealership as well... Thanks for any input!

I don't mind salvage title cars, if their fixed right. Most every nice car I own I bought wrecked. Check the car over where it was damaged, make sure it wasn't half assed put together. The dmv will not even say anyhting about a salvage title, their are thouseands of cars out there with salvage titles. Might be harder to sell the car though in the future, some people car and some don't.
Any more questions ask me, because I fix and sell salvage cars for a living.

DMV won't have a problem as long as the car has been inspected after the accident which it sounds like it has been.
Don't buy the car if you ever want to sell it. 90% of people will not buy a car with a salvage title.
With that said he will have a hard time selling it and if he does it will be because he lowered his price alot. -
As the owner of a salvage titled vehicle let me tell you, the affect it has on the price to buy is great. If you ever plan on selling it though, you're going to hate yourself.
