Yeah I waved at you. Its just an AC separation, some torn ligaments it'll heal, just hurts real good for now.

legal or not, the safest place to ride bike in the busier sections of fargo is on the sidewalk. why? look at the HUGE sidewalks, 8-10ft wide down 25st. call me crazy or realistic, but i would never ride my bike on 13ave past the mall, nor would i ever consider riding on 32 ave anywhere paved.

i ride my bike a lot, last year, more than i drove my car. i've seen far too many incidents of people that are oblivious to the world around them to put my life on the line around them, the sidewalk is where i'll ride until we get some proper markings to signify where i should be riding and where cars shouldn't be driving. how about this: until i was... 20 or 21 i didn't know that bikes were supposed to ride on the street. does that tell you something? fargo all but ignores bikes.

here's a better question to pursue: skates, where should they be used?

        8-1411. Obedience to traffic-control devices.--
        A. Any person operating a bicycle shall obey the instructions of official
traffic-control signals, signs, and other control devices applicable to vehicles,
unless otherwise directed by a police officer.
        B. Whenever authorized signs are erected indicating that no right or left or U-
turn is permitted, no person operating a bicycle shall disobey the direction of
any such signs, but where the rider dismounts from the bicycle to make any
such turn, he shall then obey the regulations applicable to pedestrians.

8-1413. Riding on roadways and bicycle paths.--
        A. Every person operating a bicycle upon a roadway shall ride as near to the
right side of the roadway as practicable, exercising due care when passing a

standing vehicle or one proceeding in the same direction.
        B. Persons riding bicycles upon a roadway shall ride in single file as far to the
right as possible provided, however, that the bicycle rider need not ride in the
gutter portion of the roadway. This section shall not apply to paths or parts
of roadways set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles.
        C. Wherever a usable path for bicycles has been provided adjacent to a
roadway, bicycle riders shall use such path and shall not use the roadway.

        C. No person shall ride a bicycle upon a sidewalk which is posted with signs
prohibiting bicycles; provided that this ordinance shall not apply to law

that explains why it took me so long to find out that bikes should ride on the road instead of the sidewalk, they should ride on the sidewalk. everyone riding a bike has been congenial when i've been on foot and i do the same when i'm riding, that's just common courtesy (i know, can the "common" jokes).

There we go, perfectly legal to ride on sidewalks unless signs say otherwise and pedestrians have the right-of-way.

I too ride my bike...a lot more now for obvious reasons. And unless the street I'm on isn't too busy, I ride on the sidewalk. The only place in town where sidewalk-riding is forbidden is downtown/business district.

I've been hit by a car while riding on the street before and that was with obeying all traffic laws....not again. Any chance I get to grab a sidewalk (while being curteous to pedestrians) and I'll jump on it.

The guy that was driving stopped into the store today and was pretty cool about it, I'm going to call his insurance company tomorrow and hopefully it'll all get straightened out. My shoulder is doing much better but is still sore as hell especially when I wake up in the morning.

Maybe, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. He seemed concerned and wanted to make sure I was ok.
