Calling all Focus owners...

I'm fixing a car for a friend of mine. She had an intake put on it, but they ghetto rigged it, and it came apart, so it was of course running like poo and throwing the CEL. Got the intake installed properly however we still have a CEL. My question is, where the coupler has a 90 degree elbow off the tb there is a whole that looks like for a sender on top. Is something supposed to fill that hole, right now it is jus plugged, and if nothing goes there, how can I reset the system, and clear the CEL. I live in a town with automotive stores that don't have code readers. Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty sure the car has a MAF- make sure that is plugged in. If it is and driveability is OK, you can unhook the batt, but the light may still be on. The code will be stuck in the PCM historical, but depending on year etc. etc, it may not shut off w/ the battery (emissions codes cannot be cleared until "fixed" or cleared). If it doesn't, you'll need to get it cleared at a shop or find a buddy w/ a scanner. Sometimes cold air kits can screw w/ the A/F when the MAF is clocked wrong, which can cause excessive rich or lean codes to occur also. It sounds like you just had a vacuum leak and now it's repaired and you need your CEL turned off though.
