So if your run 11.1 for your index. then get a 10.9 you lose?
why cant you just bump them up a class?

Because that's not how the index works. You don't move up a class during competition. You choose your index and run within that index trying to go rounds to win that index for the day. If you're running close to the low end of the index all day and you're on a fast pass and break out, you didn't play the index right and should have moved up a class before you started eliminations.

Add some spice to the drag days that everyone can participate in!

I like gsr's idea. I think thats how they do it out there on non tintmasters days anyway

In ireland, they do there classes as like:
1.4L or less F/I and 1.8L N/A or less and 15's or slower
1.8l or less F/I and 2.2L N/A or less and 14's and slower
etc....so if you are faster, you get bumped up to the next class with the bigger cars, so it is kind of based on engine size, whether it is F/I or N/A, and the times. I can get you there exact brackets if you would like, but it seems to work. Obviously it would have to be modified for US engine sizes, but a good idea to start at maybe... -
The index thing would be fun, but what determines who wins in the 15 and slower category, just for example. Some people will be able to hit the 15.00 and some won't. Or did I miss something and you dial in like say 15.5 and try to hit that consistently like bracket racing.

This is the same for all of the index classes.

Any car with simple mods should be capable of 15.0s.... it gives the younger kids something to strive for not a lot of money and should actually provide for the largest class. It will also probably be a huge amount of fun for most of the people who race it. Well, as much fun as going down the track in 15 seconds can be I guess.
