We almost have the dates locked down. If things go right there will be 6 events. A couple of them might be Sunday events.. I am trying to get a car show out at IDrags aswell. A car show on Sat. and a race(street legal) on Sunday. We need more to do around here. If I could get the Idrags guys to build a HUGE pad. We could have autocross/drift and drag races EVERY WEEKEND...... Derrik, what do you think?

Is the schedule i received in the e-mail from IDR the final schedule? There's only 4 events listed and there all spaced so far apart, like there 2 months between a few of the events. Nothing from June 18th till August 7th, then nothing from August 7th to October 8th. So basically 6-8 weeks between each event.
Also looking @ IDR's regular schedule they are really lacking races period this year. Only 2 races in June, 2 in July, 1 in August, 1 in September, 1 in October. Is there any reason that we dont know about as to why we cant be racing every weekend, or have some friday night events as well? Seems as if the Midwest tracks are on the downfall. Very few events this year @ IDR, BIR is up for sale, and Thunder Valley is up for sale as well as the owner no longer wants to run it. 3 most local tracks are falling apart.

The schedule was just posted on the idrags site as well. Just 4 days is all.
We need wed. night street legals every week like the track near Milwaukee. -
Perhaps SLS needs to sponsor friday nights? Or tintmasters get back into it... I liked friday nights when i could go and i think having more street legals at the track keeps it off the streets in town.
We need more races! Even if not full days then just nights...

From what i took from speaking w/ some of the track guys in the spring of 04, the owners of the track weren't even interested in having more events. They only wanted to pay the employees X amount of dollars and were even looking @ just running like 2 sundays a month and calling it good. Idk whats going on w/ all these tracks around our area but it doesn't seem as if anything is progressing like it should be.
The Mayhem was attempted last year then rescheduled by the track and that itself fell threw as well. Idk what needs to be done to change the owners minds to host more events. It's all in their hands of wether or not they want to host more events or not, from my take they just dont really care. The other part that sux of trying to day night races their is the county code and having to be shut down an hour before sundown, that doesn't leave much time, especially if there is a larger turnout.

I've been going down there for 6 years now. Make it there usually once a month. No complaints, good turnout, good amount of runs.

Maybe what needs to be done is for IDR to sell season race passes for X amount of dollars w/ the understanding that Y amount of races will be held. I'd buy a season pass, as would many others I assume. Perhaps we need to get vocal on their boards and let them know that they are passing up a money making opportunity by not having more test-and-tune type days, and most street legal days (and nights), more bracket weekends, etc, etc, etc..... It kinda bugs me that just as the "scene" in town starts picking up the track starts running less and less frequently. Like I said, lets get vocal on their boards, let them know what kind of interest is out there.

thats not a bad idea either...any idea what they'd want for it?

Last year we had 7 total events. This year we are planning 6. but the idea here is to have them as ALL DAY EVENTS. Not just nights. We are hung up on 2 of the dates. But we locked 4 inplace already. Yeah it is one less event than last year but much more bang for the buck. Plus we had some bad feedback from last year for the Friday nights. We had guys that wanted to make it out, that couldn't due to work and such.
This year we wanted them to be during the day on Saturday's and Sunday's. This was a stretch and I thought everyone would rather enjoy the all day events even if there was one less.
Give me a break guys these are not free for me. I would much rather have nights they are cheaper. I felt everyone would have more fun with an all dayer than the nights.
Plus with our cities market we need to have these on the weekend to allow those guys to make it, as well as the Grand Forks guys. With other events that are going on around the area and also money as a factor. I think 6 is all we can do..... remember we have autocrossing, car show's, ours and other local/national events, and basic life to deal with.
If you stop in and look at our calendar of events that we either are hosting and/or attending this year..... it doesn't leave room for alot of options. This will be the busiest summer ever in my 10 year history. Plus not to mention the never ending list of projects that keep piling up here.Mr. Bakken can chime in here to handle the "track doesn't care" issue. I am not a representative for IDrag.
