Just wondering whay you guys think if is, give an example with some specs/vid of a car you think is the ultimate, and why. Heres mine

    MIGHTYMOUSE, from LS1tech.com
    98 Pontiac Trans Am
erl 6 bolt ls2 block conversion, all pro 6 bolt cathedral heads, ls6 intake and stock tb, stock crank, 364ci built by wheel to wheel powertrain.
transformance 4l80e trans with transbrake, yank 3400 stall converter
midwest 9" rear 3.0 gear (for the 25.5" tires)
    bogart bolted rr10's, 17x11" rear, 17x8" front
    Mickey Thompson 315/35-17 Drag Radial
    qa1 single adjustable shocks around
    bmr suspension trz anti-roll kit
    snow methanol kit
big stuff 3 engine and trans control
twin walbro fuel pumps in stock tank, 96# injectors, kirban referenced regulator
    turbosmart e-boost 2
turbo technology air to water RACE kit, self-upgraded to pte-88 turbo, also self upgraded in-car plastic 5 gallon water tank
    lt1 radiator, stock water pump
    performance auto fabrication sportsman cage
    3.5" full exhaust with cutout

To me this is the ultimate street car, heres why. It seats 4 comfortably in leather, has all the ameneties, cruise, A/C, stereo, and sound deadening. Also it has an OD trans with good gearing, gets good milage and can be driven in any weather. I think a true street car should be able to be driven as much as possible, in any weather, have all the comforts, and get good milage. Along with that, be fast as fuck, look good and must be driven to the track on regular occasion.
This car at the LSx shootout last year drove there, over 350 miles each way, and got 24mpg on the interstate with the A/C on. He placed first place in the car show in the bad ass street car category, and won first place in the LSx True street class with a 9..0xx@15x and was the fastest car in the class. Also, the car is raced ONLY on a 315/35-17 MT drag radial, a street tire that is always on the car. It has a small cam that idles very well, doesnt overheat, and cruises at 80mph on the interstate @2370 rpm.
Finally, last weekend he ran a 8.73@159, on the MT DRs, on pump 93 (mixed in 4 gal of 110 for insurance) at a raceweight of 3825#. He drove it to the track and back as well, which was 70 miles each way if i remember right. This also makes him the fastest and quickest recorded run on 17" tires that anyone can remember. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Turbo-WS6-Destroying_173299.htm

And before anyone gives me the "oo v8s racing in a straight line" gig, just adjusting the shocks will make the car corner very well. Its not a lotus but it will out handle a stock T/A by a good bit.

    2002 Camaro- built N/A LS3, Flt level 5 trans, 8.8 rear

I would love to see that in the winter. Being a 'street' car, I would assume you mean "summer" street car? If an all around car, winter/summer/rain/sleet/ice/wind, my choice would be the perfectly balanced Audi R8.

That sounds like "livable drag car", not ultimate street car 🙂

An ultimate street car probably has 4 doors, at least.

I drove a 2001 Audi S8 last weekend. Except for the automatic transmission, that thing is probably pretty close. It's big advantage over an M5 would be AWD, which is quite helpful in this part of the country.

I would say either a built STi, The New GTR, or even a Cadillac CTS-V. Those would be ultimate street cars to me.

HA that is not a "livable drag car", he drives that thing pretty much every day. You see, for the 75% of people that live in this country, you can drive these things all winter. I drove my Buick around in the snow on the drag radials quite a few times. Otherwise i would change tires, and yes i did drive it for a whole winter when it was my only car. Also i drove my GTO in the snow alot, about 3 months when i felt like it. This isnt "its your only car for life" obviously if your gonna put that kind of time and money into something your not gonna drive it behind a salt truck. christ i thought that would be obvious

well where is this line between street legal race car and 'street car'?

I mean hell, Matt could set his car up to be daily driven...

Now if it was me, it'd be a 98 SVT Cobra with someone building a 4V for it, a HP TT kit, MM R/T box, and a stout T56.

4 doors, Leather, and an awesome sound system. I'd rock an Is/GS300 with a nicely built 2jz, pimp suspension, a nice stereo, and slammed on 19's. Around here though I'd have to go with all of the above plus AWD.

perfect street car? Starts every time, gets good MPG, has more than two seats and a good sized trunk. It should probly do ok in the winter too but that's not the biggest deal, plows are good

08 GT500. 500 ponies under my foot, leather, cruise, traction control for slippery conditions. Comfy, big, and fast enough for a "street" car. Oh and orgasm inducing supercharger whine. Close second would be the previously stated Audi RS4 wagon, or a 2007 CTS-V.

                                          Snow tires 🙂
