If you don't mind sharing, what was your password? Since it was fairly simple...
Were there no #s in it? It was obviously guessed, since I am thinking that vBulletin isn't exacty easy to hack, if the mods/admins are doing their regular updates. Most security holes are brought up by people who are there to find them. They are normally submitted to the coders and patches/updates become available.
I doubt many people have the knowledge to actually "Hack" an account.
Passwords are normally encrypted fairly well depending on how well you set your password. If you have a password that consists of #s & letters that is fairly longer - this will always protect you.
If a user is able to receive your MD5 hash and you have an encyrpted password of letters only with a generally short pw, a simple set of rainbow tables using brute force could crack it.. Even on a simple computer... However, they have sites that run numerous computers to crack MD5 strings, and other strings that speed up the process.
But I doubt there are any really simple exploits to a vBulletin..
So I am sure someone guessed it.. Since you indeed said it was simple..
So for you to narrow this process down, think of what your password was.. And who may be able to guess what that password was by knowing you. And also, consider people who may have had... or still have... beef with you.
