Sorry blake for the hi-jack, but that LS block comes with an AEBS invoice for our cost on what the build was. He was charging exactly what the wholesale invoice said, zero profit. It has been a long time, and if someone walked in with some cash and offered a reasonable amount, I'd bet it would sell. Price is very high, but I am pretty positive there isn't a better built block in the area, just more than likely overkill for most of the builds in this area, as it was originally intended for a "drag car" with a lot of power.

Do more research before quoting someone else. Most assembly lubes last for years. Google: How long does assembly lube last in a motor, then read. There are options for engine builders to use if the motor is going into action quickly, but I would assume someone that builds a motor and ships it off for a 'long term build' as this one was, would use a thicker substance. Do you think every crate 350 Oreilly's sells was built last month?

Regardless of the fact, the motor sits at $3000, offer $2XXX and use the discounted value to do a teardown and relube? It's a Honda motor, it can be reassembled/relubed pretty easily, and if you save $500+, I'd consider it worth it.....and to be honest, I should probably not talk about how much stuff costs on here, being I just got a PM from a potential buyer and he may not want everyone to know how much he is spending on a motor......

hey i bought and built a GE sleeved ls with o rings, arias pistons, eagle rods, balanced assembly. was like $1600.

That thing was just as built as this $3000 motor.

also who thought it was a good idea to build a race motor with no girdle? Care to share on that one.

Here is how the build went down:

                            1. Call AEBS
                            2. Ask for a bulletproof build
                            3. Send block
                            4. Return block with said product, and an invoice (about 6 months later). At that time, AEBS was building some big power/reliable motors, and we entrusted them. Fitting a GSR girdle (or other) just wasn't something they pushed.

You are now quoting pricing on stuff that wasn't that inexpensive 5-6 years ago, which is why the pricing for the block in negotiable. Did we overpay for that block? In today's standards, maybe a little bit, but at the time, we were paying top dollar for work to be completed by a top company.

Freak out? I have learned lately what some on this forum do for fun. Enjoy trying to offend or irritate people on the internet. I am old enough to shy away from 'talk to my face like this', but not old enough to forget disrespect from those that show their faces at events we put on. You don't have to like me or the shop I represent, but at what point do you mature above internet forum 'hot shot' status? I don't think I have even met you, and I would consider myself a pretty easy guy to get along with.... You simply can't win them all, and I am cool with that. /emo

exactly where i was going with this. i dont doubt that its a very stout motor and could handle tons of potential power. but $2xxx for a bare ls motor with no girdle seems like its not really priced to sell.

but im done commenting on this, its just going to sound like im bashing either the shops prices or motors quality. which is not my point. well except about the price lol

Fair enough, constructive criticism is always welcome. There is a point where selling it for half price just isn't worth it in Shane's eyes. He would rather hang onto it for a future build or a sweet boat anchor. Live and learn I guess. Thanks for being respectable about your criticism!
