My Introduction
-
Just wanted to introduce myself (and the car) quick. I recently bought an '04 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon, it's pretty much stock except for the low buck mods shown shown in my signature. It's powered by a duratec 3.0 V6 rated for 220HP@6300 RPM and mated with a 5spd automatic with sport shift, aka tiptronic. I haven't had a chance to take it to the track but the G-Tech tells me it's running mid 15.8s.

Nice ride, and wecome to the boards.

The car is still pretty new, not a lot of following and from what I've seen so far, the 2.3 4cyl is going to get much more interesting stuff. Turbo kits are already in the works for it and most people have agree, the V6 simply doesn't have the room for a turbo. Personally I think someone will eventually get it done but it'll be all custom.
I probably won't go much beyond an intake for the car, if even that. I'm currently waiting for a company called CP-E (cp-e.com)to finish R&D work on their intake and MAF customizer product as well as seeing how reliable the car is after the mod. The V6 runs pig rich (10:1 or worse!) at the upper RPMs and the MAF customizer is designed to bring things as close to optimal as possible. But because of that, people are worried about overheating the cat and pre-cats (which are in the headers) since it's believed Mazda tuned the car to keep the pre-cats cool. To make matters worse, I had to get an auto, for my wife, which makes the car nearly a full second slower than the stick. Looking over the boards here, it's pretty hopeless for this car to compete in a straight line

Oh, and if anyone else is driving a 6i or 6s, be sure to check out www.mazda6club.com and www.mazda6tech.com. The second site is slow but filled with good information. There are a only couple of people in ND that I know of with a 6 on those boards, one person in GF and one in Minot.
