DJIA, NASDAQ, and S&P 500 down big today
-
Thank you Economic Recovery Act getting signed today...You are doing a great job (gets signed @ 1:40PM today). Weird how it was such a rush to push through then Obama had to wait four days to sign it. Also, weird how Pelosi had to go to Italy for 8 days the day Congress votedon it...Could they have pushed to vote it in simply because Pelosi and a few others were making a trip to Italy to do what I think was receive an award? If so, I hope they can't sleep at night...

wait...throwing out the stuff you heard on Fox news about trips, 4 days to sign, blah blah blah... you are saying that the markets fell because he signed it? Are you fucking serious? The package has been debated for a month or so...has had many iterations in that time, not once did the pres threaten to veto it. To think that this was the sole reason that the DJIA (and other markets) went down shows how ill informed you really are torbs. Was it a contributing factor? Sure, but I'd say the high likelihood of GM/Chrysler filing bankruptcy had a big impact as well. The fact that the world is nearing a recession adds to it as well.
Pelosi is in Italy (from what I can gather) on official business...if you can believe the spokespeople at the vatican anyway.... Was part of wanting the bill done before she left the reason it was pushed through when it was...yeah, probably a part of it, but that deadline was mentioned weeks ago. As for Obama waiting 4 days to sign it...maybe he wanted to read through it before stamping a yes/no on it?
And you think the left is full of conspiracy theorists? Really?

Chuck, chill...I know Pelosi leaving and the Act being passes arent the only reasons for the act being passed quickly and the market going down, but I'm sure they are connected in some way. You can't tell me it's just a coincidence that the markets are falling to the extent they are on a day when the biggest piece of legislation in our country's history is getting signed.

well the proposed bill may not be the greatest bill in every way. it has some good things. plus no one else has tried to do anything else. so if this doesnt work, well its more than the republicans have done. I mean the two sides bitch and moan at each other but only one side comes up with a plan. During these times wouldnt both sides want to come up with a plan and quit fighting with each other. fucken pathetic.

The news media had it torn apart within hours of it passing, so I can't see why anyone else who had access to it with a large team couldn't do the same.

what about obama's promise to post bills on teh interwebz 5 days in advance before he signs?
"When there's a bill that ends up on my desk as president, you the public will have five days to look online and find out what's in it before I sign it, so that you know what your government is doing."
-
I agree about the 48 hours (not 5 days parker...I believe it was supposed to be 48 hours)...it was debated for a month before it passed, but I agree with you. This did disappoint me as well.
Pork..you'll never ever get rid of it. One mans pork is another mans stimulus (at least in his mind)
Secrecy? The bill is available for viewing. What portion do you feel was secret.

here ya go chuck... enjoy..

And again Parker (and everyone else on here that these things apply to) no one is forcing anyone to cash stimulus checks, subsidy checks, etc.... You each chose to do it, you could have simply not cashed them. You could have taken one for the team. You could have bucked the system....but none of you did. Everyone is against a gov't handout until it is going to them.
