So this guy has been trying to get his PS3 fixed for a few weeks, and he had me order him a replacement drive lens about a month and a half ago. At the time I picked up 3 lasers, and had them in stock.

Generally, I have people make appointments to bring thier systems in for repair, a day or two ahead of time. This guy would always call mid-day friday, which is the busiest time for me, he always wanted to come in right then, which was impossible, becuase there were pre-existing things going on. So this goes on for several weeks, and everytime I tell him to schedule a time AHEAD of time, so that he can be sure to get it done.

Fast forward a couple weeks, I now do not have any of the PS3 lasers in stock (first come first serve), and I'm not going to place an order for just one of them (from China) because I'd end up losing money on shipping. He called and was like I need to come in today to get it fixed... I told him I didn't have any lasers for him, and he started yelling at me telling me I told him I have a laser specifically for HIM. I told him he should just send it in to Sony because I don't want to order a single part and sit on it for a long time.

So then things get crazy, his caretaker gets on the phone, and starts asking me that I am a piece of work because this guy is handicap and I didn't save a PS3 laser for him... at which point I sort of lost it. She went on to say that I treat handicap people wrong because I didn't hold a laser for him (which I would have done, had he paid me) and that i was my problem I didnt get him in right away becuase it's tough for him to get a ride. I told her, I don't make special rules up for handicap people, and that I treat every customer the same.

Seriously, wtf? Is society supposed to have a special moral obligation to give special treatment to 40 year old retarded people whos video game systems break? Is it my fault she was having HIM call me (and obviously didn't comprehend the concept of calling ahead?) It's not that I had a huge problem with the guy himself, he seemed nice, although very confused, it was that I was being told that I'm the douche for not making huge exceptions for him... if they want equal treatment, be prepared to be treated like everybody, wtf?!

Well it's the caretakers fault, she should've handled it in the first place... I believe in equal treatment for everyone... y should that guy get shit fixed specially and someone like me not... Tell them you will order it after they pay you for the part, your markup, and shipping, etc beings it's a special order... Money up front is the way to go...

If they don't like it, their tough shit.. Should've had a more competent person handle it in the first place...

If he has a caretaker, he/she should have been the one taking care of this. I have a customer here at Team which is just like your customer. But the difference is that the caretaker is NOW the one that is in charge of his porblems.

My brother-in-law is severely autistic. I know, just as his handlers know, that he doesn't quite understand how everything works. The handler should've given you the benefit of the doubt and understood that what he was asking for just wasn't feasible. He obviously needs a new handler. Someone who just gets defensive about every little thing is not capable of handling mentally challenged people. They see everybody else as looking down on them instead of treating them just like everyone else.

Some handlers think that the clients need to and can take care of things on their own. If that was the case, they wouldn't have a job.

Some handicapped people, in this case the persons caretaker, like to pull the handicapped card like some minorities use the race card. They want to be treated equally but as soon as something doesn't go exactly like they want, out come the cards. It's pretty pathetic if you ask me.

It sounds like YOU (Jim), have the right concept on how to handle someone with a disability, and the caretaker is the one that should reevaluate how they handle their client. Using his disability as leverage shows the lack of respect for the individual, as they should be the FIRST to acknowledge that their client is equal to all...nothing more OR less.

I honestly saw no connection between the title and the fact his customer was handicapped. I just assumed he was calling them "retarded" for what actually ensued(ie caretaker bitching).

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Isn't that the truth! retail does suck, you bend over backwards to give the fuckers good service, and its never good enough. They will always find a reason to bitch. My boss is just like the customers! :icon_scratch: He cant seem to grasp the concept, I am only one person, and if i don't do 20 things at a time, he pisses and moans just like the customers. I don't think there is any reason to give a handicapped customer special treatment when it comes to selling them items.

The retard should be happy he's not living in his parents basement and never spoken of, like he would have been 50 years ago. His handler should not have a job funded by medicare/aid. Tough shit for the retard. But seriously don't worry about it, he has probably forgotten all about it and will call you again this friday.
