I'd say driver mod would have been the easiest way to avoid that

Because once you lift, the front end slams down destroying your motor and front suspension.
In hindsight it would have worked out better in this case though. heh

makes sense....... being i have no experience in this fast stuff (no sarcasm) couldn't he get out of it partially for a lighter touchdown or is it usually a hard ass smack regardless??

The initial reaction is to yank your foot off the gas pedal. It takes a lot of experience to back off slowly and get the car to settle down lightly. More than I have anyway.
