my neighbor just walked down to the sheyenne diversion just north of 12th ave. He said that the diversion is full and all the standing water in our ditches is now at sheyenne height. The people that have been living here for years (some 30+) all figure that the river will break out and fill our little development within the next 24 hrs. We all parked on the highway tonight.Within 24-36 hrs I'll be fishing from my deck on darkelvis island.
I drove by your place and went to a friends house north of you on the airport road and he has had to sandbag all around his place...its not good there

And yet there is nothing being said about the sheyenne or the communities in this area. I spent most of my night helping the little old lady at the very end of my road. The river is 2-3 feet from her house, at her dike, and the fucker broke. I built the hell out of that thing tonight.

I say that with the budget surplus we should buy a FUCKLOAD of land and dig a HUGE man made lake just outside of fargo. That way every spring the red, sheyenne, buffalo, wild rice, etc... can all drain into it and fill it instead of flooding the area and every summer when we have a drought we will have a backup water source. It would provide a way to keep the area from flooding, recreation, housing on the lots surrounding it, etc...
But, what do I know?
