Member Journals?
-
So I've seen a couple similar things on FargoStreet under Car Updates, but I still think having its own folder, and a set of standards, would be pretty sweet....so I'm just going to toss the idea out there.
On IW, we do member journals of our cars...the first post includes a brief paragraph story about the car, a couple pictures, a mod list, a sponsor list if you're that cool, and possibly some dates of major events in your modding process. This post is edited continuously to keep up the mod list and dates, etc.
The remaining posts are for people to comment on your ride, or for you to keep up on updates for all to see...such as installing a new part, a photoshoot, your car's weekend at the drag strip, etc.
It's a real good way to showcase your ride. On my own, I have posts for all the major events in my car's evolution, from part installs to photoshoots...and dates on the first post that link to those major event posts so people can quickly scope out what's been done to my car and when, and or skip to a recent photoshoot so I don't clutter up that first post with a hundred pictures.
So, I think it'd be pretty sweet if the FargoStreet mods could open up a folder for these member journals, and compile a sticky that sets up some sort of base guidelines for starting a journal. I'd be really interested in seeing a nice showcase of individual FS people's cars, and it's always great to watch the evolution and keep up with it as it happens. A chance for our cars to be whores! I'd be happy to help out in setting up those guidelines.
If you think it's a good idea, feel free to post in support. If not, feel free to bash it or just pretend I never said anything.
...omg, is the post-whore contributing?!

I think the 'Members Ride' section is basically what that is, but as you can tell, doesn't get used all that often.Yeah...all I see is the "members rides" thread, which is just everyone posting in one been clusterfuck, occasional pictures of their cars and very little info about them...
And a number of posts in Car Updates/Progress...some with very good info/pictures, some with just random updates about a car I know nothing about, with no pictures of it.
I think it'd be much cleaner if we took the time to seperate them by member, and come up with something real nice to show off our cars. It also encourages more friendly relations between members.

This would get used by like 2 people, then forgotten about...

I like the idea as well. I think it would get updated by those of us who mod our cars on a semi-regular basis.

Like this, I think it would be cool to have.

It's a great idea that every big car forum I've been apart of uses, but on FS, I can forsee it dying out real fast. It is nice to see other peoples cars, and the story behind them though.I agree. It is a cool idea, but idk if fs is necessarily big enough. Nobody is stopping anybody else from doing it though. I mean if you want to start a journal, go ahead!
