impressive. its not uncommon for a turbo diesel to make it that, but you dont see very many gasoline engines do that.

Cool vid, but I've heard of some old datsuns from the early 80's having upwards of a million miles on them.
Still though, having all the records and documentation with that old comet is were it's true value comes from, a car with a story and history is worth far more than somebodies daily driver.
It does speak about the quality of American cars, back in the day, when quality was emphasized over quantity.

If you buy a toyota and put a million miles on it you get a free new toyota. A LOT of people have done it too. So buy a brand new toyota and drive the F out of it.

It has a lot to do with how the owner/ owners take care of the vehicle. I've had a couple GM cars last well over 200k. I've also had/ worked on imports that crapped out around 100k.

Its had nine timing belts, I wonder how many left the owner stranded till he could get a replacement? That comet has never let her down.

What does a timing belt snapping have to do with leaving you stranded?? You just throw a new one on and go.

And im guessing if they made it 900k+ miles on it, they were probably decent about getting services done, which the timing belt should be done every 100k, hence 9 belts. I have never seen a timing belt snap on a honda under 140k.

That was part of the break in procedure, new timing belt at 300 miles. Everyone does that....

impressive. its not uncommon for a turbo diesel to make it that, but you dont see very many gasoline engines do that.

I have seen more 2000+ Diesel trucks over 300k then I have seen of any other cars put together. I guess thats what happens when your dad works on them.
