Anyway, that's ok, at least MN still has has some sense. lol.
Republicans are growing bullish about their political prospects in 2010, but here’s a bit of sobering news for the GOP.
According to a new Gallup Poll of more than 160,000 adults across the country, there are only six states in the country with more self-identified Republicans than Democrats. The six states are Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska, Alabama and Mississippi.
Democrats hold the advantage in 42 other states and the District of Columbia.
The poll shows that even longtime Republican strongholds, like Nebraska and North Dakota, have an equal number of self-identified Republicans and Democrats. And there are now more self-identified Democrats in Indiana, Georgia and South Dakota.
The poll was conducted between January and June — so most of the results came when President Barack Obama was at the peak of his popularity.
But it’s also a sign that the GOP — while benefiting in the short term by criticizing Obama’s policies — still has a long way to go in convincing voters that Republicans offer a better way forward.

lolz, Chuck for prez. He should be fully converted by the next election. My views haven't changed:
Pro-Life (few exceptions, not many)
Pro-Gun
Pro-Small Gov't (though I do think some social programs are good if managed properly)
Pro-Equal Rights REGARDLESS of sex, race, sexual orientation, etc... (Good luck being a republican candidate with that one)
Pro-Civil Union (or even marriage...I really don't see how 2 gays getting married affects me and you)
Pro-Reversal of Marijuana Laws (Again, good luck being a republican)
Pro-Diplomatic solutions before going to war. IMO, no country should be off limits to having formal relations with. Alienation gets you no-where (No luck being a republican candidate on this either)
Anti-tortureThe above are things you'll never get me to change my views on. The question is, do you think the Republican party can overlook this and accept me?
Me either.

I'm not really sure what a republican stands for anymore, it use to mean you were a conservative, but lately, not so much. Assuming a republican is a traditional conservative, then you fit the mold quite well based on your items below.

**mostly conservative, I guess it depends on the social program. Most conservatives think a safety net is a good thing, just so it doesn't become a safety hammock.
Pro-Equal Rights REGARDLESS of sex, race, sexual orientation, etc... (Good luck being a republican candidate with that one)
****very conservative standpoint. No idea why you would think a conservative is against equal rights. Everyone has the same rights under the constitution.

Pro-Civil Union (or even marriage...I really don't see how 2 gays getting married affects me and you)
****moderately liberal viewpoint. If the govt decides that it wants to make it legal for two people to form a civil union then I and most conservatives don't have a prob with that... be it a man and a woman, man and a man, woman and a woman, roommates, etc. However marriage is what it is (and always has been), the union of a man and a woman.

Pro-Reversal of Marijuana Laws (Again, good luck being a republican)
**** a non-issue to me, I'd guess its a moderately liberal viewpoint. I wouldn't want some stoners out driving around any more than I'd want some drunks out driving around... so I guess it depends on how the law is set up. Medical use is fine IMO.

Unless you made gay marriage a huge part of your platform, you'd fit fairly well within the standards of a conservative candidate based on the things outlined above.
However, it would might be easier to join the liberal/Dem party since they don't have any standards to fit within.

See, I always viewed the republican party as a group that was a "Our way or the highway" type of party with very little in the way of descending views....at least i get that from the righty talkers....
Also forgot to add....very much in favor of reasonable regulations (Monopoly laws, etc...)
As for waterboarding, Mancow will disagree with you on this one I think having experienced it. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=5a4_1243023928
Civil unions.....I also think they should get equal benefits as hetero couples (Insurance, adoption rights, etc....)
With my pro-diplomacy standpoint, I think that our active military should be drawn down and our special forces kicked up a bit. No need to send in a whole Army when a well trained group of individuals can perform the task more efficiently and quietly. Also in favor of having current military be re-deployed to do tasks within our borders (border patrol, etc..)
Take away my first three points on my original post and you'll find that it fits the democrat model as well....and there are still plenty of dems who hunt/fish so the guns one can go either way, though it is more of a republican-leaning issue for sure.

Sounds like both parties don't have a freakin' clue who they are anymore.
