The brand on them is NFA. 1 year warranty. Better than Vision is what I am told. We can't be picky anymore on what brand because this is the only one we can even get. We used to get Vision/Phillips/Catz. But the "crack down" ended that.

It's not a choice really. At this point the HID's are almost impossible to get. The Gov. made them illegal last year. They are to be sold as OFF ROAD USE ONLY/EXHIBITION ONLY. The 8000k and 10000k are the only kits available to us.

not to confuse kelvin with lumens:
The lower the Temp. The more yellow to white they get. As with stock halogen headlights at 2300k (Yellow) The higher the temp the more purple/blue they get. As the (k)Kelvin goes up the (lm)lumens goes up. But stops at about 5300k, then goes back down. We have 10,000k available but the lumens get really low when the temp gets that high. about 1800(lm) The stock lights on say an S2000 are 3800-4000k and the light color is kinda white/yellow. But the light output is ok.(it's the projectors that make it look blue) The best visible light is from a 5300k 3200(lm). This output looks pure white. So to make a long story short...... If you want good light output from the HID, and you want to see the "hid" color. (the color everyone expects) you will have the blue/purplish color. The 8000k kits produce about 2400(lm) of light. This seems to be what everyone wants. Sacrafice some light output to have the cool blue/purple color. IF it were a perfect world HID's would all be purple with a (lm) of about 4000. But if you start to get into it you will see why physics will not allow it. Do a google on it and you will find out all kinds of information on light output vs. (lm) and (k). Yes as of right now we can only get the "purpleish/blueish" color HID's.

Illegal huh? I got HIDs on my focus stock... so whats that mean for people driving around with them?

I think mine are 7000-8000k. I dont know for sure depending on the angle they are purple, blue, and pink. But mostly purple.

HID's come stock on tons of cars.....i really dont think they are illegal.

They are illegal to replace on a car that does not come from the factory with them...in other words, no aftermarket/jdm kits. I THINK the gov't is trying to stop automakers from putting them on new cars as well, but could be wrong on that.

they did a test on all different kinds of headlights on some show i seen.....and Sealed Beam are brighter and cover more ground area than HIDs....and sealed beam came out a long long time ago...i think they would just try to stop making them because of the changing colors and such.....kinda like Angel eye's

The government didn't want HID's being retrofitted in to standard halogen housings due to the high amount of light scatter cuased by them. There is no defined light cut off in a halogen reflector housing when used with HID's, where as a properly designed housing such as those used stock in BMW's and so forth has a distinct cut off pattern.

It's like having people run around with thier brights (but even brighter) all the time, its rude and even dangerous to other drivers. If your going to retrofit HID's in to your headlights, do it the rightway, and get properly matched projector housings.

do any companies make healight housings and everything to retrofit a hid setup in a civic ? i always thought it would be cool but i dont want it to be ghetto and illegal
