I thought about them also. But I dont have much tread and they would loosen up. Bolts are stronger..

How come you only 7 guys want to ice race? I know there has to be like 20 guys with wrx/sti/evos on here.. And all you ricers with your honda civics come out and race!
Jason how about 7 guys pay $40.00 instead of 15 guys @ $20.00

I'd be in for that, maybe make some vids and get peoples attention to get a higher car count after an event or two.

I don't know if it is a money thing, or a number of people that are driving this guy. I have no doubt that after a few races that more would come and check it out.... I will await his call and see what he says. I cannot make next Sundays race regardless which sucks...

Tonight Tufte and I tested out his homemade ice tires on his stock 1990-91 Mazda Miata. I think they have about 100 self-taping screws with nuts on the outside.. We mounted them and didn't leak any pressure off @ 40psi I was suprised because we didn't use any Slime or tire sealer.
We didn't take any pics so sorry about that..
After testing we decided that a RWD would need more than 100 on the rear tires. On the front I think 100 would work fine.. We did some 5,000 rpm launch's and the studs/screws dug straight to the ground...
If you plan on building ice tires be prepared to spend $50.00-$100.00
Ice testing #2 soon to come with pics and vids
