checker doesn't give enough of a discount to match walmart, just go there for synthetic. i don't think you need 0w, 5w-10w is recommended... a lot of dsm guys, myself included, use 15w-20w
there a lots of dfferent threads on car boards about viscosity, lots of different articles with various ways of explaining viscosity numbers... here's one http://www.advanceautoparts.com/english/youcan/html/ccr/ccr20040601ov.html

$1 Quarts of 10w40 is where it is at. Just change it @ 1500 miles like we all do.

I could give that a try, does it have to be an automotive-related company? If not I'll just go to Berg's and drop the cash on some AMS oil.

Thanks, I like to keep it clean. Can't wait to get my wheels on this weekend. I was so damn close to mountin them up yesterday. 😄

Have you dyno'd your T/A car? I'd like to get a ride sometime. Those cars are ridiculous with proper mods.

do you have pics of your new rims?

10 weight is too heavy for my car. I need oil in those turbo's right on start-up.

I'll check out walmarts prices sometime soon, thanks.

It'd be worth it for you if you buy AMSoil on a regular basis to just set yourself up as a salesperson. You can save a fair amount of money by being a dealer of the product.

if you're buying amsoil, check out everson on main, they're about a block west of 45st. when i tried selling amsoil, i found it cheaper there then what i could get it for.
i don't know who told you that, but (to the best of my knowledge), as with any car, oil takes a few seconds to circulate through the extremeties. cars don't put out enough exhaust to spool turbos (that large) at idle, otherwise your ic would heatsoak and they would wear out very quickly. do some research, you'll find that a lot of things that you thought were true are just rumors and myths

                      1500?? Damn!!

You guys should look into doing used oil analysis's for your cars. Helps determine how long you can run oil for your particular driving style. Even still most new cars today can go much longer than the 3k of older cars. Under "severe" driving I'm supposed to change my oil at 5k. Non-severe at 7500!

I've mostly just continued to use the Motorcraft 5w-20 which is a semi-syn (has to be to meet Ford specs) and it's pretty cheap. Here is a UOA of some Valvoline 5W20 however http://www.mazda6tech.com/images/uoa/dustinuoa.gif

Haha... most of the DSM'ers have turbo's that like to eat oil for a snack....

which is why a lot of us use cheap stuff... but there are some that claim to know a lot, they use a variety. check out dsmtuners, there are some big discussions on there. look at teamnabr for additional info http://www.teamnabr.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?page=archives.pl
the dsm 1000 already asked questions has good stuff too

I change my oil @ 1500 miles simply because I am always interested to see if anything is floating around in there. And also my motor doesn't live a very friendly life, so it's the least I can do to keep it running. 😉

Its not where the car came from its how fast it can get away from there
