Because it's a safety thing. Try driving a car making a pile of power on street tires and it's not very fun. We have had this argument for god knows how long now.

It's called a "street legal" event. The intent when it was created was to attract "regular" street cars to the drag strip, instead of dedicated race cars.

Should we do EPA testing at the gate? I hope you don't drive that Mustang on the street with an "off road" x-pipe.
