My phone was going crazy yesterday when I went on the site, logged history to a bunch of the ad sites in between each thread I looked at. (same as the little deals that show up in the lower left corner when a fargostreet page is loading) Then it turned off like they do when it's doing something it doesn't like.

That said, I cannot beleive you guys are saying that i have shitty cars and shitty computers and that that is the problem. nobody likes ads that make your computer churn and constantly load shit [or play sounds, or put land mines all over your web pages etc]. I was focusing on the invasiveness of the ads.
when i see a site misbehaving that badly i have no idea if it is a server-side infection or ads run amuck or what.
My intent wasn't to bitch about the free service. It was "really? it has to be this shitty? i'd rather just pay for a less-shitty version"
And lest you think that it's all bullshit.. there are a couple people on here that may be willing to vouch for me helping them out. I haven't met most of you guys, I'm an outsider, nobody knows me, etc. I've still done a little bit here and there, and I like the site and would like to see it continue. I'd just hate to see it become unusable with crap-ware.
RE: vagcom. I used to do it for free for FS people I'd never met before. Then 1 guy [i think?] got the idea that I'd drop what I was doing to do it for them over and over whenever they wanted. Not how I roll. If it's not worth the pittance amount of money I now ask, that tells me something about the kind of person I'm dealing with.
A car guy likes to help out a fellow car guy -- I'm no exception. But you have to have an "out" for when it feels like people are going to take advantage of you.
For the times I've used someone elses VAGCOM, I've always offered to pay them for it. Nobody has accepted payment. I hope you can understand the difference there.
I think what I stated here on FS was "PM me for details", and I'll stand by that.
