What exactly needs to be done to convert an old 6 volt electrical system into a 12 volt system. I am in need of this info due to the fact that i am dropping a 327 thats running off of 12 volts(alternator, starter, ect.) into either a 49 Olds 2 door or a 53 chevy 2 door. Both of those cars are 6 volt systems.

Also, if anyone has a cherry picker i could borrow or you want to help pull the motor out of a truck and drop it in one of these 2 cars let me know.

Off the top of my head, all the lights, gauges, and pretty much you are best just rewiring the whole car with a aftermakret wiring harness kit.

Ive heard good things about this newer company, ezwiring. They make a cheap 21 circuit wiring harness. $165. They are who I plan on going with on my '49.
