ok, i think we've made our point that he's a bit foggy on what the 4g63 has done in the past. keep in mind, my block is still stock, i'm going to try beating nick's 530 run...
however, what you didn't add is that nick's head is still stock (except cams?) , and the intake is a magnus, made for daily driving AND freaky top end

you drive a WRX....stop wasting ur money and get a STI.....everything i have researched on DSM's have said the stock blocks only handle 400 whp ...my car hasnt had that much power so i have no experience to see if it actually would blow the engine or what would happen so i figured all the research i have done on them have only handled 400 whp ....so thats where i got it from...even mitsu motors says 400whp...and yeah maybe PSIedTSI has another car....but you talk up everyone elses cars like their yours so thats why i had to make that comment.

yeah decals are ricey...but to me they make a car look better....other than just a stock painted car unless you have ur car with custom paint...so until i can afford to get custom paint...i'll keep my decals on.

I've seen and built many 7-bolts that didn't crankwalk that made over 400whp. It comes down to how you do it, what you use and how you treat it. I personally had a low 12-sec, high 11-sec daily driven DSM that never broke in almost 3 years. Then my clutch went. And I frequented the track almost every other week. Stock 6-bolt engine.

And ANY motor can crankwalk. Even 6-bolts can. It is just far more uncommon. The 6G72 is faily common for spinning rod bearings and failed oil pumps. But that doesn't mean they can't handle 600hp stock bottom-end.

And with proper fuel, timing, tuning, etc....you could boost 34psi and spray 100shot on a 4G63 and make over 1000hp at the flywheel. And shifting at 9k+ rpm. Don't believe me? Try www.shepracing.com or www.extrememotorsports.com or www.buschurracing.com.

I'm not the genius or know it all....but they did it, consistantly and Shepard has yet to break in almost what......4 years? Not bad for a street car running 8.7s.

But any fool who buys a DSM, adds a big turbo, heavy clutch, some spray, built motor etc, will not run 10s. Jason Wier (close friend of mine) never-ever ran 10s. He did trap 131+mph but his driving, shifting, etc wasn't good. He broke almost every week. Al Blaha, wasn't spraying, stock motor, big turbo, and ran mid 10.5x all day long and never seemed to break. And trapped the same mph.

My point...not sure. But I have been with DSMs since Shepard had a mullet and Buschur still had his AWD. Almost a decade now.

Tell ya what man; bring out your 1g and I'll race it. As for wasting money, I think both STI's and Ej20's have great potential period. Bar none the STI is a better platform, but I go to school and work. I pay for my own things here and can't afford the insurance or 10k+ premium of having an STI so I make do with what I got, and I'm confident in what I got will take yours down as is. If its true you got this 400+whp machine you'll take me no problem, but I'm gonna raise the bs flag and say you bring your shit down when me and tufte race.

I dont have a single decal on my car and dont plan on it. And as for him only driving a WRX... well I havent seen an STi in the area or that has showed its face in fargo/moorhead that could compete with his car in a line or around the curves. I have driven his car and was very very impressed with it for the minimal amount of mods done to it. Hell Tjamz has more mods done and a bigger turbo and front mount and runs slower 1/4's granted he has an ATX but still.

                        Peace!

i could really care less if you had any decals...i really dont care what u had...and no i never said i had 400+whp...if you read any of this forum i was stating i got a t3/t4 turbo because i didnt want over 400 hp because what i researched the stock blocks could only handle 400whp now that everyone has said that they can handle more...once i install my new turbo i will boost it for more HP....and as for no one showing there face around fargo moorehead with a sti...thats mainly because no one can afford them..but if you really want i can bring a friend of mine with a 04 Sti...and im sure he woud be glad to race.

                            There's @ least 3 STi's in the FM area.

man, this is just turning into a pissing contest. why don't you get together and do some real racing instead of this keyboard racing? it's neat to read about for a page or two... but now it's just getting old

here's a tip, stop acting like you know it all about cars and specifically dsms. i talk like i know a lot, because i've done plenty of reading and playing around with my car, but i know when to shut up and let the more knowledgeable people have their say (and i listen!)

I have only raced 2 STI's, a blue one and a black one. The black was the first known one in North Dakota, owned by some kid in grand forks who works at an airport doing air traffic control. Nice kid, but didn't even know how to open his hood, nonetheless drive the car. So beating him wasn't much of a "rush". I also raced a blue sti with nothing but an mbc and tbe way back, also beat that. Now granted if we are going to calculate potential costs STI>WRX once again, no replacement for displacement, it has brembo's, and a much better built transmission. However if your friend with the STI wants to play, I would love to. Speaking of which Kirk we still got to have a little showdown here sometime. Mildly modded WRX vs Mildly modded STI (or is it stock? Not sure). One thing I will say about the STI that I wish I had...the transmission, so much smoother and steeper gearing. If I had 4k lying around I'd buy that in a heartbeat, but I don't so I'll deal with what I got.
