    This would suck.

    http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=SRgtiFIRE

This is a follow up story...

I was hoping the postings about this in other forums were the last I was going to see of this today as the video was not for public consumption but somehow managed to get out against the videographer's wishes out of respect for Stu and what happened to his ride. Whatever turns out to be the ultimate cause for the fire, I can guarantee that this was complete disaster for our friend which we (CNY Fastdubs) all feel very sick about and that NOTHING nefarious went on here.

While I wasn't at the scene, I was a mile down the road at a friends for our weekly GTG which Stu was attending. The last I saw of Stu's car beforehand was it booking off down the road with AudiGirl in the passenger seat to catch some cool video of Stu's car in action. A little while later we got a call that Stu's car was just a mile up the road and smoke was coming out the dash. A couple guys had small fire extinguishers in their cars and everyone took off post haste to find Stu to see if they could be of help. One of our crew got there in good time and they used his fire extinguisher, but it turns it was only enough to hold the fire off for a minute or two before it erupted again and consumed the whole interior of the car by the time the fire department got there. Not wanting to see the carnage first hand, I hung back out the house and kept an eye on Stu's dog and everyone else's rides (goes to show how good a group of guys we got... folks pretty much dropped everything to head off to the scene to see if they could help out as soon as we found out what was heppening ).

Last I saw of the car was it being hoisted up to a flatbed after it was towed to our GTG spot .... it was not pleasant sight to look at. I can't imagine how I would have handled this, but Stu took it very well. We are all very happy that no one was hurt.

As to what caused the fire... I don't know and I think most of us (who were there) including Stu are unsure as well. Some were thinking that the heat from turbo may have caused some wire insulation to melt and cuase an electrical short/fire under the dash or maybe there was just so much heat that some material in the passenger compartment started burning. Given the amount of damage to the car, I do not know if a definete cause for the fire well be known. I wouldn't blame Stu (Boostin20V) if he just wanted to put this all to rest and move on to another great car/project.
