Computer Problems
-
I am having the same problem with my computer sort of.
I have a HP that was a Wal-Mart bundle.

The computer as a whole is probably 5 years old, but all the original parts have been replaced so the oldest part in it now is probably.....2-3 yearsold? Its got an AMD XP 2600+ processor, ASUS A7n8x-x motherboard, "stock" heatsink and fan on the CPU.

Well usually when it shuts down it doesn't say anything. I think that Jeremy's comp is doing the same thing that mine is.

I was going to check the bios temps but it wont even turn over now.....press the power button and alls that happens (that i can see) is the CPU fan spins about .5 inches then gets pulled back to the original sitting place, no matter how long i let it sit or how high i have the 10" fan blowing in there thats all it'll do now. Someone wanna borrow me a 3-400watt power supply for a little bit?

no the green light wont even come on now, only lights that are on are the green one on the mobo between the PCI slots and the ethernet activity light, other than that, nothing. The fans will BARELY spin when i hit the power button but thats it, no power, no juice, no nothing.
Also if i bought a power supply it'd be at least 350watts again lol, 250 isnt powerful enough for it. I just need one that i can throw in really quick to see if it is the power supply thats at fault, or if not, that its the processor.

it was just the "connected" light i shoulda said
Anyways...problem fixed, it was the power supply. Stupid POS brand 400watt one blew out on me i guess, so the old 200 watt one is in there temporarily until we get a decent higher wattage one. My dad failed to mention to me yesterday that he had the old one in his office so i got that today and put it in and it works fine. Checked the temps, the case was at 66 and the CPU was at 98-102 (farenheit). Thanks for the help
