Electrical system problem!!!!

For starters 89 CRX SI.
Towards the end of the day at the track yesterday the engine ground popped loose, no problem, i just put a new ring terminal on it and put it back on. Now there are no taillights, the car still has blinkers, brake lights, and hazards, but no tail lights or dash lights (not fun in the dark). I put in a new fuse and it blew again. I pulled the harness off the back of the dimmer, put in a new fuse, and it blew again. I pulled the harnesses off the tail lights and they blew again. Does anyone think that this has to do with the ground that came loose or is it just a coincidence? As of last night, aside from the dyno time, this car was done for the summer, please don't tell me I have to pull out the whole interior and trace the wire back to find a short (If I have to do that, I'm just going to say fuck it, cut it, and run a new wire). -
Have you wired any gauges in? Any wires grounding out there?

All the gauge wiring was done by the person that started this project (you know who I'm talking about-the same person that wired the turbo timer so you didn't need a key to start the car, just hit the clutch and it starts-the same person that somehow wired the A/F gauge through the horn so if you honk the horn the gauge spikes lean-the same person who wired the AFC so backwards that when I first started the car (with the clutch) it fried the AFC and we had to go to a different fuel management system-the list goes on and on), but I looked at the wiring for a while (not too in depth yet) and didn't see anything wrong.

Well, I checked EVERYTHING that could possibly go wrong just short of ripping the carpet out and following the wire and looking for a short. I am now thinking of re-wiring the tails/front corners/dash lights I just need some Input on if this will work.
Should I follow the wires comming off of the light switch on the steering column, once they split out and go their seperate directions I will cut it there and just run my own new wires to everything (fused of course).
Or should I say fuck it, put in my own toggle switch, run a fused wire from the battery, and split it out and connect it at all of the stock harnesses? I'm leaning more towards this one just because it would be much easier.
