I'm not expecting to sell it in town, so I'm using the same broker I bought it from. I had it on Supraforums for a week and had 3 'low-ball' offers so we'll see how this works out...

    Are you buying the skyline?

Who would work on that skyline if an OEM part of the internal motor went through? Would anyone really want to work on it? Just out of curiousity.

I bet nissan acutally might, it's not like it's a rotary or anything. I was thinking of importing one as well in the future. The R32 is only like 18,000 for an old one.

$18,000 to import it, another $25,000 to get it legalized. Unless you just want a show car.

            Actually, it's 15,000-25,000, and I called, and it's more like 15,000 for a older R32. So 33,000 total.

Lets not forget insurance on a car that isn't easily accessible in US ground. We are taking a look at exotic insurance here boys.

Wish I had the money my folks had that they spend on trucks and farming equipment. We just bought I guess 15 new semi trucks each costing roughly anywhere in the realm of $100-140k......bastards...send that money over here.....

Is Motorex the only place that can legalize a Skyline or are there others?

Yes they are the only one in the U.S. Actually, the insurance would not be bad at all, cause no one has the car on file, so they just give you like a generic decent rate.

There are alot of places that can legalize a skyline bring it to any custom automotive place and they could do it...im sure they have it on file to...insurence would be sky high.

You are absolutely, 100% wrong on both counts. If you would like me to get into the details as to how and why both comments are flawed, I would certainly be willing to. I've been watching Skylines in this country for 18 months now. I've probably forgotten more about them than you'll ever know.

Stick to your fleet vehicles and cars that sell in the 6 figures.

All they have to do to legalize them now is replace the windsheild, front bumper, and put steel door posts in the doors. I read the new law somewhere, cant remember where. It was stated in 1998. I also read that Nissan dealerships can legalize them. Dont quote me on all this, it was on one of the skyline forums.

How much exactly are you looking for something like that? Blue book I imagine correct? Around $28,000? Considering the KBB value of an excellent condition Supra, can't ever really count on getting your money back on the mods as they don't add anything to the resale (of course if the buyer is willing to pay, but I for sure wouldn't want to buy someone else's project or premodified car, ironic considering I sold a highly modified civic at a great loss) you live, you learn.

                          My math for my civic

Cost of car itself - 17k brand new, put on roughly 23k miles
BB value of car - 13k
Additional value put into car, labor, parts, etc, etc (minus insurance and gas) - 10k

Price car sold for - 14.5k

what does that equal? Anal raping.

Rob's friend the one interested in purchasing my car is buying it for blue book value exact as it should be. I have no interest in further modifying my car and losing any financial investment that could be used for better purposes (IE my business I plan on starting and accruing capital during the course of this year as I attend my last semester and obtain both my bachelors degrees) but to people who still have the passion, more power to ya. I lost it 😞 maybe another day, maybe another day.

Anyways back to being on topic, sad to see the car go. I'm sure you'll miss it lots, I know I even missed my POS civic after I sold it and that's no supra for sure 🙂

Sorry to go off topic here, but WHO CARES?? I don't see how this is related to Brett selling his Supra? This is a prime example of why this forum is so hard to keep track of.

On topic, Brett, good luck selling your car. I really don't think that you should do it, but to each their own. Man if I had the coin I'd buy the Supra off you in a heartbeat.

About the skylines....its way more than just replacing bumpers and windshields....there is only one company in the U.S. that can legalize them, (Motorex), and its a very hefty process including basically tuning down the engine and making it legal emissions wise......there is more but go to the website and they tell you almost everything the change to make them legal....but they also say there are things they do with the ECU and you will never know what because they legally will not disclose it.....so the car cannot be totally changed back to JDM style i guess.....its all in the website.

Yeah but there are alot of cars in the U.S. with illegal emissions...half the cars in fargo do not have Cat. converters...that is illegal...so the main thing to legalize them is in the windshield..bumper....wwhy have them tune down the engine..when your gonna wnat to tune it right back up anyways....

You should stop commenting on this topic..

Here in ND you need to get the emissions (via DOT) and the crash standards (NHTSA) done on a FEDERAL level. Just because ND doesn't test for it doesn't mean the mfg doesn't have to have your car up to standards when they sell it.

It is WAAAY more than bumper and windshield. Don't forget the 3rd breaklight and side markers and..... the list goes on and on. That's assuming that you can understand all the rqmts, get all the paperwork right and then hope to god they don't ask you to crash one to prove it all (like Motorex had to do).

3rd brake light and side markers...there are TONS of cars in the U.S without both of them so maybe you should stop talking on this topic.

Yes, older cars don't have a lot of things... BUT to get a new car certified here in the states it has to pass all current laws... emissions, safety, lighting, etc.

Thanks for the Sunday morning laugh.
