Its not that its not rare enough, but I could buy an 850 whp supra for less than what I'll sell my ~450 whp supra for. Just a dollars and sense issue i guess...

As for the Skyline, well, that would be nice, but sooo many unique issues i would need to come to terms with b/4 dropping $45k on such a car....

And don't ya think other buyers in the market will realize that as well? Isn't that the exact same reason why you may be getting "low baller" offers. As mint as it may be and rare, it's still a Toyota and it's still a mass produced car. It isn't a limited edition less then 5k produced automobile. It has a high market still due to its current demand but even you say so yourself, you can get a supra for much cheaper that has already been "done". I'm sure someone will pick it up but exactly how much are you looking for your car?

Just FYI there were a total of 11,239 Supra's brought into the US. There were only 4038 TT 6-speeds. I don't think you'd still call it limited production, but finding a clean, low mile TT is extremely tough and there are people out there that will pay a premuim for them.

First, its not a GTR. Second, it ain't legal

The second part doesn't matter if you're willing to wait 12 months for it....

There were only 69 Silver TT 6-speeds made in '97. None in '98 (Quicksilver was the color, only 24 auto\6 speeds for QS) BTW, Quicksilver may be the absolute sexiest color I've ever seen, along w/ some of the gray\titaniums on the e46 M3's (IMHO) When I bought my Alpine Silver, the guy had a Quicksilver car next to it with beautiful Fikse rims - If you like Supras, it was a sight indeed

My car is the second lowest miles one I've heard of. The lowest miles one I've heard of is in Seattle and is a single turbo with less than 15k miles. A couple of months ago he was taking bids in the 50's.....

For the nay-sayers out there, the Quicksilver I posted sold for mid $50's, BONE STOCK, not even with the FMIC, VPC or Fikse rims.

He also just sold a black\black '98 with 7200 miles on it last week(http://www.vipimports.com/98_Hou.php). The new buyer, who is a "well known member of the Supra community" bought it and is already parting it out to become his new "poster car". I'm guessing it went for mid $50's to either Peter Blach (on the cover of SCC) or Dusty (owns Supraforums.com and MVPMotorsports) or Larry at Sound Performance

Dave's got the inside scoop on most of these people - any comments on who picked it up Dave???

So bottom line, people are paying upper $30's to mid $50's for these cars. I have no concerns that I will sell my car for what I paid for it over the next couple of months. If that doesn't work, I have 3 people who will give me just $4k less than what I paid - not a bad depreciation percent over 18 months on a car.

Funny, b/c SW's most notorius car (http://www.vipimports.com/97_Pho.php) is for sale by VIP too - SW sold it to VIP, VIP sold it to Brit, Brit had the engine built and realized he's got $70k+ into that car and wants out now......

                      Damn, SW's a baller.

                        Brett,
If you are honestly looking @ picking up a Skyline get a hold of Advanced Auto in Duluth, the currently have one and are supposedly bringing in another next week. They had the R32 @ the Autovations show last weekend, thats when the said they had another Skyline coming in next week, not sure on the details of the new arrival though.

"If you can't afford to do it right the first time can you afford to do it a second time?"

If you aren't going to drive a Skyline more than 2,500 miles per year you can import it as a show car, no legalization reguired. There are a few people that do this and just trailer the car around the country going from car show to car show.

That's some good information, thanks Nick.

Something I've learned over the last couple of months is that you want to avoid Moterex **directly **at all costs - they lie, cheat and mislead customers. They say they can legalize a car in 6 months (give or take, depending on who you talk to) but they screw around with it so bad that its more like a year - all the while they have half of your money. In addition to that, the last 12 months they've been sitting on the sideline b/c the Feds slapped their hands for cutting corners on legalization.

So if at all possible, I'd like to but a car with a VIN, but we'll see what plays out....

RBMotoring is mainly represented by 'tyndago' on all the boards - his name is Sean Morris, he use to work at Motorex and then left. He helped RB (the engine in the skyline is an "RB...) get set up as a Registered Importer (RI) so they can bring cars in. However, they still work through Motorex to get it legalized. They have anywhere from 4-6 cars waiting to get done, this one, that I posted earlier, that VIPImports is selling, is one of those cars that Motorex is prepping for RBMotors and their customers....

                                http://www.vipimports.com/images/carsforsale/Skyline/001.jpg

I understand tha for a fee, Sean will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know to get a Skyline legalized. To date, according to what I've read, no one has stepped up and written out a check to open his vault up....
