            I'm dumb.

No, I really hadn't done much looking into the SC (I know the background of the V8 cars fine, but not the blown 3.8L/5spd cars). Supercoupes have gotten a reputation for being a pain in the ass sometimes. Usually somewhat difficult to work on, notorious for headgasket failure (stock gaskets, issue blamed on extremely restrictive exhaust causing too high of cylinder pressures...in this case that was probably cured with the free-flowing manfold back exhaust he had on the car.). Also hear occasionally that parts are quickly becoming obsolete for the M5R2 5spd, along with a few parts on the 3.8L motor. Talked to a few of the guys about it and it's not as bad as I thought it was - not much worse than the V8/auto cars. Biggest thing to worry about (outside of the headgaskets)is harmonic balancer failing. $300 replacement part.

So yeah, I was just sitting around trying to figure out if a SC was a good idea, or if i should wait for a good V8 car to come around. Was looking into Supercoupes for the 5spd option (never put a 5spd behind the V8 in the Tbird) but wasn't sure the fun of a 5spd would outweight the issues I heard the SC had.

            bah.

oh well, who needs 350+ ftlbs of torque at 2900RPM blowing the tires loose in the first 3 gears anyway?

              actually?

              sniff I smell a hata. 🙂

I'm quite a fan of the Tbird body lines. Also love the lines of the sister car, the Lincoln MarkVIII.

(Just haven't found another car I like. Everyone and their little sister has a mustang. Just don't like the looks of the Fbody...although I did some looking and the price comparison for parts is crazy. First thing I looked at was a big brake kit. Tbird guys pay $3500 - KVR 4pot 13", Fbody pays $1200 for a comparitive kit - willwood 4pot 13" IIRC. And you'll never find me in an import [atleast as a toy])

I don't remember, just remember my buddy in the Tbird beatin the camaro pretty well. Suprised a few people out there with that car.

Not sure on anything with the Camaro, but the Tbird has a shitload into it. I don't think there's a modification you can do to the Thunderbird that hasn't been done to his car other than body mods. (forged block, blower, yaddayaddayadda)
Don't remember what his car ran that time though. Somewhere in the mid 12s. I'm still not sure what exactly is going on with the car though. He put down 444hp/410tq a couple years ago. Added a couple things that should have pushed him up over 500rwhp but had a different guy tuning it on a different dyno and actually ended up with 413rwhp. More changes have been made and the car is much more driavable but only making high 300s to the wheels.

Car SHOULD have easily dipped into the 11s with the 444rwhp combo but the transmission quickly said F-off and started slipping real bad (and in turn causing him to lay into the rev-limiter on each shift), and FWIW was spinning his too tall (28", should be running 26" tall) Drag radials on the wheels. Went 12.8s there and managed a 12.50 @ 112MPH sometime there after. Hasn't had it to the track with the latest changes. All at 3800lbs.

it's not so much having the money as knowing if that's the car I want. Didn't decide that I deffinetly wanted it until it was sold...

I can get a loan for that amount of money no problem (nice being in a small town where the bankers have known you all your life....all I'd have to do is call, tell them I want the loan, and go sign the papers when I get a chance.)
