Anyway, so your ignition module burnt out, right? Are you getting it replaced? Do you know what caused the short? what happened to the fuse during all of this?D
I've sent the ignition into AEM, we'll see if they warranty it. They should have it today, hopefully I'll hear something by the end of the week

I had just cleaned my car up on Friday, getting ready to head down to the lakes with a friend of mine. Top off, car clean and running, full tank of 110.
I nail the throttle just outside of town and it pulls nicely with 19 psi. I back it down to 60mph and drive for a few miles. Just a few miles from home, the car just shuts off. I pull off to the side and before I could start it up again, smoke is pouring from the drivers side of engine bay. I grab my laptop and pop the hood...
Here's what it looksl like smoking:

Here's what it looks like afterwords:

The CDI I was running shorted itself out and burned up, dumping brown sticky crap inside the engine bay. There's a much longer story to all this than just that, but I thought you guys would get a kick out of the pictures.

maybe your CDI had to shit?

That R33 off ebay is looking better and better....

-
Sucks to hear man, but I think Jason is right...doesnt that R33 sound just too good to pass?
Anyways I hope to hear your car running soon, I'm sure AEM is very responsive when it comes to warranty work and after you showed me the actual unit at the office, they only have to look at it for roughly 10 seconds to know whats up

Hehe, you guys are kidding right? an R33 skyline? Or is that some other ignition module?

Actually, I was looking at 33's and 34's in Australia for a while but noticed our fearless leader driving the conversion rate down the crapper. Go check out what our $ is worth compared to the Aussie $ or the Yen... that stuff adds up quick.
Dangler, if you have the means and the motivation, sell that Supra and get the Skyline. Let the bidding begin

That's an interesting comment. I've contacted the seller to see if the deal fell through, we'll see what he says. In a nutshell, the reasons I stopped looking for a Skyline were:
1.) Limited cars - it was taking forever find one for sale or it would take forever to get on brought in.
2.) Limited support - not many shops and not much on the internet to help me with modding this car.
3.) Difficult to get parts - self explainatory
4.) Price - at the time, what I paid for my Supra was the max, and what I'd need to spend to get a Skyline was like 10 or 15 grand more. With that said, I still think the Supra is a far sexier car. I mean, the fat back end and and sloped hood make it more attractive, IMHO, than a Skyline. If both cars were sitting together, most people would prefer the Skyline ONLY b/c its more rare. Not because its sexier. Up close the Skyline looks more like a sedan than a sports car, when compared to the Supra.
However, if I could get out of my Supra for a fair price, I would. But, the market for Supra's has dropped a bit since last year so I would need to take a bigger hit than I hoped. I'll guess we'll see what happens....

What exactly is wrong with the sedan look?

-
Sedans suck a$$... they're slow and ugly
I agree, the supra is a better car given the context of where we live. Even though I'm a Nissan fan and I obviously don't mind the sedan look
But beyond the novelty of the Skyline, it's not enough car to warrant the hassle and expense.Anyway, so your ignition module burnt out, right? Are you getting it replaced? Do you know what caused the short? what happened to the fuse during all of this?
