I recently bought the purple probe with a bodkit nos and a few other things here n there, I am sure you have seen it around town, I bought it for my fiance cuz she just loved it when she saw it. Neways we share that and the Green Mustang Convertible. They are fun cars, but both need to have some more mods.

That year and model of Probe has a Mazda 2.5 DOHC V6 called the KL-DE. It can also be found in the Mazda MX-6 and the Millenia, among other vehicles which I can't recall now since I just woke up. It's a very nice engine.

i think i saw somewhere that listed the newer 2.5 as slightly better out of the box than the older turbo 2.2. the 1/4 wasabout .2 faster... which could be attributed to the chassis. 😕 but i'm really into fords either, so i may be a little off on this

The turbo 2.2 was better as it was turbo but the KLZE outperforms all.

The Mazda turbocharged 2.2 is a piece. It's got a big bore, a short stroke, and only 12 valves, which means it can barely make power above 5,000 RPM with modifications. Technologically, the KL-DE and KL-ZE blow it out of the water.

That purple probe is a pice of shit! The belts screem so lowed you can't hear the exhaust.

BTW does it still have two Air Fuel guages? roll eyes

The belts no longer squeel, it was the power steering, had it fixed before we bought it. As for the air 2 fuel ratio gauges yes there are still 2, but all the gauges he had are coming out and new ones are going in, except 4 maybe the shiftl light. Only thing now is a little body work on the front bumper, fix the burning oil problem, and clean up all the wires, then it should be in good shape but no where near complete
