Turbo or Engine?

chances are its the turbo...so it doesnt smoke at all once your off idle? A lot of times when the rear seals blow it smokes at and right off idle and then it doesnt once you get off idle...check your downpipe/exhaust wheel if possible...

Car smokes when idling......and I'm guessing at first start up too right?

That's valve stem seals. Very common.

If you get nasty blue puffs of smoke during shifts (off-throttle), suspect turbo. But, usually a failing turbo isn't just at idle.

Screw the compression test, if it runs without a miss it's going to pull 145 or better across all 4. I say, drop downpipe and check for oil. If little or no oil is found in o2 housing.....my bet is valve stem seals.
