George Bush and Black People

If he is an idiot, I do not want to know what you are.........he is more educated, experienced, wealthier, and has more vision than any of us. But we still call him an idiot. Like I have stated before "an idiot would not be a millionaire, own a baseball team, and be a governor of a state, nontheless texas."Well, I've going to disagree with you on the bush portion of this quote by proving that you don't need a wealth of knowledge to achieve the above listed.
Education: Bought and paid for with daddies money. Like the son of a high ranking washington official isn't gonna graduate college
Experience: This doesn't mean shit, you can wash dishes at, let's say, wendy's for 10 years but that doesn't make you an intelligent person, an idiot yes but definately not intelligent, nor does it make you good at it.
Wealthier: It's easy to make money when you already have money and "the people handleing the money (not G.W.)" are experts at making more money.
Vision: This is what a hardcore bush supporter would say. My opinion, Tunnel vision, with lots of $$$$ and ass kissing at the end of the tunnel.
Milionaire: See above:Wealthier
Owning a baseball team: WFT! All that takes is money. See also above:Wealthier
Governer of Texas: Um let's see, Made lot's of money in the oil business + Texas is practically floating on oil + Long standing family background in politics = and the survey says........Governer of Texas. NFS.
The above and below statements are based on my opinions and my opinions alone, Unless of course you agree with them.
Unlike the masses of sheep that seem to have somehow thought it appropriate to vote people like the forementioned into office I have the ability to make my own judgements based on a logical thought process and not by just what I'm told by other sheep of the like. Using my this process I came to the conclusion.......Not to vote, PERIOD.

I agree with you on the Vision thing...but I don't think he was entirely to blame for the slow response in N.O. Lots of blame to go around and most of it is probably uncalled for, its easy to dish it out in hindsight.
Actually, I believe Bush managed to run two oil companies to the point of bankruptcy by his inability to run an oil company....something about not being able to find any oil in Texas.
By not voting, you really just gave up your right to bitch about any decisions. No one political figure is going to be right about everything. The best that they can do is do what they THINK is going to be the right thing and hope that it is. I honestly think that Bush does just that. I may not agree that he did the right thing, but I think that he honestly believes he is doing the right things or attempting to do the right things. I have a lot of respect for him in this regard, however I think that he so caught up in presenting a "I don't make mistakes" image that he is afraid to make changes to his plans as the situations change.

You seem to be forgetting the fore fathers who established these rights and the hundreds of thousands of soldiers that died to protect them many many years befor he was born.

Nope, no sarcasm besides the part about the patriot act protecting freedoms.

Ichiban-
The fact remains he graduated from college. Have you? He has experience running a state, baseball team, and many businesses. Have you? Do you honestly think that it doesnt take vision to become president......you make it sound so easy. He might have a lot in his favor, but that is why not everyone with money and charisma makes the top office. He has made some smart moves to become president. I just cant see how you can think he is an idiot. If i had to choose who was a bigger idiot bush or yourself, I would choose you. Same if we compared him with me or anyone else on this board. He may not make the best decisions or be the best public speaker, but if any of us were presidents we would have people saying the same thing about us. I would be willing to bet that half the people who think he is an idiot do worse stuff themselves. Who would be the idiot then? I guess it does not matter who is president, he will be called an idiot by a bunch of idiots who think they can run the country better.

Fair enough statement there Brian. How about if I go on record saying that while he may have more vision than me and may have more of an aptitude for running a country than me, he is still one of the dumbest presidents we have ever had in office? No, on second thought I still think he's an idiot, if he didn't have his political handlers we'd (somehow) be in worse shape than we are now (generally speaking, no one event referenced here). Anyone ever hear his speech on what sovereignty means to him? Kinda funny, google it and have a nice laugh at his inability to answer a basic question. Just because someone is book smart doesn't mean that they are smart or do logical things. Some of the biggest idiots I know were 4.0 students in college.
Being elected to public office, while not easy, isn't real hard assuming you don't have too many skeletons in your closet and usually it comes down to who can repeat their bullet points most convincingly. The Republican sound machine (Rush, Hannety, etc...) is phenomonal. They are very good at damage control and always seem to find a way to blame Clinton for everything that is happening now (admittedly he may be to blame for some things). I blame the media (right wing and left wing) for royally fucking up the political process. Listen to 2 different talk radio shows and you'll hear the same topics only with different people to blame for the same problem. Its too bad that their aren't more (any) straight down the middle as they see the issues type of talk show hosts. Its actually too bad we even have talk show hosts really as they all seem to be pushing an agenda.
I can give you a recap of the two major Left and Right wing talk shows for the past two years:
Rush: "Bush can do no wrong and shame on you for questioning him"
Schultz: "Bush is an incompetent idiot who hasn't done one positive thing for this country since he stole the election in 2000" -
Oh, by the way, no I don't think I could run the country better than he is, but I do think the person I voted for could have.

id·i·ot ( P )
n.- A foolish or stupid person.
- A person of profound mental retardation having a mental age below three years and generally being unable to learn connected speech or guard against common dangers. The term belongs to a classification system no longer in use and is now considered offensive.
There is the definition. He may have done foolish things or something stupid, so he could be an idiot, but then everyone in this world would be one. I am in the middle and am sick of us bashing our leader everytime we get a chance. He is not against the United States, he is for us. The whole basis of him being an idiot is that he screwed up in some speeches and didnt respond fast enought to a city wiped out by a hurrican and then flooded for two straight days. What and idiot!?! But all in all he is less of an idiot compared to most of the USA
-
I personally dislike President Bush, but you can't call him an idiot. If he is an idiot, then the people who voted for him are considered idiots too right? Hes not running the country and making decisions by himself. Every decisions he make has to be approved by Congress. Eventhough I'm not happy by most of his decision, but I still have respect for the President of the United States. Kenya West should think before he speaks on national television.
-
Ok, Bush is a MORON is that better? Ever heard of the word PUPPET?
Should respect be given to the position of the President of the United States... absolutely. Should respect be automatically given to the person holding that position..... absolutely not. That has to be earned.

if i remember the quote correctly... we live under a government that was intended to be "of the people, by the people, and for the people."
but, because power corrupts, and capitalism has started to gnaw on it's own arm, our leadership seems to be turning into a government that is "of the people, by the wealthy, and for the corporations."
tell me, where do you think bush's interests lie? i'm not asking for his office's interests, but his personal interests. bush, as an individual, probably doesn't care about the nation, but he has advisors that are good at seeming like they do.
i will admit that i don't know enough about the government yet to rip into them any more then what i am doing now, but i find it disappointing that we keep electing people that want to be president. i think the greatest president would be someone that understands the way the system works and doesn't want to be president... well, not the same way that so many others desire it. the ideal president would only want to be president because he is afraid that someone worse might come to power.
i don't complain about policies or decisions, i prefer to make occasional observations. i don't complain because i do not vote; i don't vote in any elections because i don't usually know the issues well enough to take a stand.
on the matter of the ideal president... it will never happen. warning, generalizations ahead why? remember that mullet sportin' hick that spit his tobacco out next to you in traffic last week? he runs the country, him and all of his inbred relatives. all the drunks that get kicked out of the run-down bars at 1am? yep, they run it too. what about all the wannabe gangbangers driving "low-riders" around town with their bandanas? you guessed it, they're all in charge. what about the 19 year old minority girl that's been pumping out children since age 14? she has just as much say as you.
do these people care about the politcal system? no. do these people understand the political system? no. do these people understand all the issues? most? a few? no, no, and... no.
what am i getting at here? we're in a machiavellian oligarchy.
oligarchy- http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=machiavellian
machiavelli (educate yourself)- http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext98/tprnc11.txt-
Whenever those states which have been acquired as stated have been -
accustomed to live under their own laws and in freedom, there are three -
courses for those who wish to hold them: the first is to ruin them, the next -
is to reside there in person, the third is to permit them to live under their -
own laws, drawing a tribute, and establishing within it an oligarchy which -
will keep it friendly to you. Because such a government, being created by -
the prince, knows that it cannot stand without his friendship and interest, -
and does it utmost to support him; and therefore he who would keep a city -
accustomed to freedom will hold it more easily by the means of its own -
citizens than in any other way.
sadly, i don't have my book here with this little portion marked, so i just had to use my memory and copied the section i think i'm remembering off of gutenberg.org
i don't feel like saying anything more at this hour, because i'm really tired, and i can't even guarantee that everything i typed is going to make perfect sense (to those of you that i know will understand it if i managed to transcribe my thoughts effectively

Why was the government slow in getting to New Orleans? pretty simple, the state has to request federal assistance, while the supplies were getting to the poor people of all races in Mississippi and Alabama, Governor Blanco was on a "Im in charge" power trip in Louisiana. And still is, ask Mayor Nagin (yes a BLACK Democrat) of New Orleans who was holding up progress...
But it's all Bush's fault, Bush obviously made Blanco drag her feet on some kind of holier than thou power trip.StiSchucky..

Bush is an idiot in my opinion no matter what, I guess that makes me an idiot to cuz unfortunately I did vote for him.......what a mistake.......live and learn I guess

no, you were foolish to vote without knowing the issues the campaigns were based on. in my opinion, the last election was the most childish bout of whining i've heard/seen in a long time -
Ok back on topic..............How is it Bushs fault in New Orleans? Just because the majority of the people there were black and poor, does not mean it is his fault. Is it his fault because they are poor? No...they could have made strides to become better individuals. They could have gotten better grades in school and perhaps recieved scholarships. They could have went to college if they cared enough about there own life. Yes there is financial aid for poor people. A majority of them choose the path that they take, like smoking crack and selling rocks right out of high school. I know this does not apply to all. But would have made a difference of the number of poor people left there. If they took a little pride in themselves they could make a difference in there life. Now black people are shooting at rescuers and what not. What do we do? We shoot back, now it is the govt being racist and picking on black people. Definatley bushs fault right? Now why was the aid so slow in getting there? Geez I dont know, maybe because the city had a major hurricane and then decided to flood for 2 days. Must be bushs fault again.........its not like the state cant call the guard in or deliver supplies. The only thing that I feel might be the gov'ts fault at any level is not providing transportation and shelter elsewhere before the storm. But then again some people would refuse to leave and we would still have these problems. Anyways I just do not get why they blame him for everything.
