Plus it is pretty sad around here how the B series is "the shit" If you go to seattle or LA and hit a junkyard you would think that CRX's came with turbocharged B16's. It is pretty sad that the B series swap (although it has been around here for quite a while) is just starting to get big here. But, everyone has to hop on the bandwagon some time, I give it 2-3 years before damn near everyone starts selling their "drag" cars to build 240's to drift (it is already happening in grand forks).
Drifting = the cancer of the import scene.

Sorry, gonna disagree. Dragracing is kinda like stripping the car of everything it should do well given its weight/size/power and making it do only one part of what its capable of. Drifting, auto-x, rally-x, etc... are 1. more entertaining to watch IMHO and 2. more difficult to do well. Now before I get into a big argument here, let me clarify what I mean.

With a given amount of $$$ just about anyone can build a decently quick drag car and get somewhat predictable results within a few weeks/months of driving the car. Take that same amount of $$$ and build a drift car (or any other car that takes high speed corners) and not just any driver can do it...even after years of practice (actually, that might be the worst thing about drifting, its not easy).

To call it a cancer is rather closed minded. Drifting has been around in Japan for years, hasn't hurt the quality of cars or the "scene" over there from what I can see.

I shouldn't have called it a cancer but it really isn't anything but sliding around. Auto-X on the other hand is totally different because you are actually trying to race and there is a point to it.

Have you tried drifting personally? Or are you just going by what has been said? For instance if you built yourself a drift car and had some nice clean open roads (not happening in MN,ND or WI) I am pretty sure you could get good at it.

I agree with you on watching drag racing because unless you're driving you will be wanting to leave within like 5 minutes.

No, have not tried drifting personally (at least not at a competition) but do know several people that do/have done it. I've watched many many many people try and drift at St Cloud DOT. About 2% are decent, the other 98% have a LONG ways to go before they are good at it. IOW, its not easy

agreed. so many things you need to think about when doing it and working on a car to do it. and then you need some skills.

I'm not so sure about that....cuz w/ drifting you really need traction on demand to be good. Sure you can get used to the feeling of sliding, but I don't think that its quite the same trying to link your drifts together in snow/ice as it is on asphalt

That is why I called them controlled fuckups.

And to everyone else, I agree that it is difficult to do and takes more skill than drag racing, but I just find it horribly boring to watch after a while all I see is guys driving sideways.

But, the same could be said for drag racing, it is just guys going really fast in a really short distance.

                          To each their own really.

Rally on the other hand, I feel, really needs to get big in America, I love that shit. 😄

Yea I agree that it might not really be worth it..ALTHOUGH you want...do what u want and spend as much money as u want..hell if u wanna spend an extra 3 grand for a swap go for it....i drive a sohc boosted and ive beat a few b16 and b18 swapped cars...but when they get boost they fly even faster...

know what you mean, you got to start somewhere and learn to control and make car do what you want it to do not what it wants to do. the first time i got my 240 to brake loose on pavement was such a differant feeling than when you do it on ice.

and back to swaped hondas, what about a turboed b18 in a hatch?? any opinions on that i know there a couple people who want to do it in town you think that would be worth the money??

b18b would be because they are plentiful and can be made to have a VTEC head (LSVTEC). They can make some good numbers boosted.

B series make more power in the end versus a D series. b series have more potential but are more expensive.
