As a Mazda 6 owner I've been following the Mazdaspeed 6 development and until a couple of days ago everything was mostly speculation. Mazda has now officially posted information on their site stating an early summer release of the Mazdaspeed 6.

You can view all of the pics and information here http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=23608. I'm curious to see how this will compete with cars like the Evo and STi. I don't know the curb weights of the Evo or STi but I know the Mazda 6 is a heavy car (around 3200-3400lbs) and the Evo and STi have more years of development behind them.

Some notable items are a direct injection, turbocharged and intercooled 2.3 in-line 4, active torque split AWD and a 40% rigidity increase over the base Mazda 6 sedan. Unfortunatly the intercooler is above the engine and unlike the WRX there is no hood scoop.

Good question. Some people say there is plenty of room for a FMIC so why they went with that design is beyond me. Seems like heat soak would be an issue.

Geez for 26k, you can have one mildly modded fast as heck wrx running way better times with IMHO better AWD....but you cant touch that interior. Interior is the main reason why I'm looking at a different car....but for the money I think the camry solara is an excellent car out right now.
