    JUST LIKE THIS ONE

    1990 Chevrolet Beretta-

The Cheverolet Beretta (my third favorite car)was truly one of
a kind. Only 75 indy beretta convertible pace cars were ever produced.
    The 206-cid ohv V-6 engine packed 225(SAE net)hp.

Click Here for more on the Indy Beretta.

Thats the same as a 91 twin turbo 300zx. I was thinking 15.0-15.5 because thats the same hp on th 89-90 turbo grand prix. If its does a 14.0 thats faster then most cars on this forum, and enuff to take out ricers around town.

yeah i dont think they ran 13.8...the ACTUAL pace car maybe...but not the replicas...i could see a 14.7-15.5(depends on how much the convert adds) or so out of it tho...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Since you are all to lazy to read the link.

The 1990 Indy Beretta Pace Car is truly unique. Only 75 of these cars were
ever produced...one paced race, and two were on pit row during the Indy 500.
The Beretta convertables were built by and converted by Cars & Concepts. These
cars were actually Beretta GT's, which had been throughly modified. The roof
was cut, the chasis modified, and the tops were powered and had real glass with
a window defogger. The cars were fitted with modified 206-cid ohv V-6 (3.4L V-6)
engines which yielded 225 (SAE net) horspower. The Indy Pace car (according to
                  Chevrolet) could do 0-60 in 5.8 seconds; a 1/4 mile in 13.8 seconds@105mph.
Hydramatic 4T60-E transmissions were also added. Chevrolet invested an enormous
amount of money into the berettaindy program. Unfortunanlty, the Indy convertible
didn't meet the standards thatGM had set forth. For example, the fiberglass
three piece boot made the car alittle difficult to handle. The company flew a
technician in to refit the front and rear suspension with many new components
before race day. Contrary to common belief, 7500 pace car replicas were produced
in order to celebrate the Beretta's Indy 500 appearence.

Ok back to my topic, Yeah it is a replica and it is teal not yellow, in which 2500 were yellow and the rest teal. There were also some that came with a Manual 5spd 3.1! most of the manuals were teal though that I've seen and heard of anyways. None of the convertibles were sold to the public as far as I know, most were shipped off to dealers and showrooms. The orignal pace car did come with that 3.4 though and they also had a concept beretta that had the 90 degree v8!!!!

                        Here it is:

13.8 in a conv front wheel drive non the less was quite amazing for the time.

"The Indy Beretta replica was a special edition line during 1990. 7500 of these replicas were produced, 6000 in teal, and 1500 in yellow. The replicas were fitted with similar packages as that of the GTZ, only the had unique seats, paint, stickers, and other minor changes. The 3.1L MFI V6 engine in these replicas had 135hp@4200rpm. Three unique Indy Beretta Convertibles were paced the Indy 500. Seethe "Indy Beretta" Section of this site for more details!" @ http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/chevy/145/berettahis.html

confirms hard top and 3.1L not 3.4
                                "Trim: INDY GT
                                Class: Economy

only 3 convertibles with a 3.4L were made and those were actually used as the pace cars and handling sucked so bad chevy never made a production convertible according to this site http://www.indypacecars.com/1990.html

I supose a berrta could do the quarter with a 3.4 but gears would be so low it would be toped out at the end of the quarter and maybe even have to be a 6sp in it the car is what like a 2800LB car with 225 HP and even if 225 LB Ft Tq it wouldn't do 13 sec quarter

im pretty sure the pace car was that fast...its not like stock LQ1 or anything...that motor was originally built to make 300hp...if it was with a manual it prolly had 300hp...the only reason GM rebuilt to the motor to only 210hp was the fact the auto trannies couldnt hold the power no matter what they did...all this is under the assumption that it is the LQ1(no pictures to confirm it) but it is known that wbodies that weigh 3400lbs have gone 15.0-15.3 with the stock LQ1 and a 5spd...

im pretty sure the pace car was that fast...its not like stock LQ1 or anything...that motor was originally built to make 300hp...if it was with a manual it prolly had 300hp...the only reason GM rebuilt to the motor to only 210hp was the fact the auto trannies couldnt hold the power no matter what they did...all this is under the assumption that it is the LQ1(no pictures to confirm it) but it is known that wbodies that weigh 3400lbs have gone 15.0-15.3 with the stock LQ1 and a 5spd...

15 is totaly realistic but not the 13 that someone else had posted earlyer

If you re-read the damn thing you will understand that the replicas did not have that much horse power, but the pace cars did. And as it states in the first sentence there were 75 produced. No one was arguing that a replica did, I was stating the pace car did.

So yes LIKE I SAID before 13.8 from a n/a fwd conv, pace car yes, the replica no, is still quite impressive for the time.
