Hockey demands hand-eye coordination and rapid speed. To be able to take a swing at a piece of rubber roughly four inches in diameter require skills. Anyone can bounce a ball and make it into a basket. It takes years practice to be able to take a wrist shot and a slap shot. Not mention you're gliding on ice. While concentrating on the puck, players are required to keep an eye on their oppenent. Endurance, disipline and strength are a must. One aspect which place hockey on top of every sports in North America is its diversity.

Since the paragraph has to do with my dominant like of basketball, and alright like of everyday hockey and the reason why brian made this topic is obviously cause of me, i'll play along.
Hockey has it's pro's over basketball, one I believe is playoff hockey. After the superbowl, playoff hockey is where it's at. the intensity is great, the games are close and comes down to OT or the extra attacker trying to tie the game is awesome. As with basketball, the games can be blow outs until the confrence finals and the nba finals. In hockey anybody can win, even the Wild...down 3 games at 1 pt in the first 2 series and beat the avalanche and canucks was exciting, to bad they got skunked by the ducks. I like hockeys speed to, and kevin and i already had a convo like this, but i agree, shootin a slap shot over 100 mph is definately harder then shooting 3's for a living. But, basketball you play a lot more, some times 45 minutes of a night of non stop movement where hockey is you skate hard for 30 seconds to a minute then take a 3 minute breather etc. hockey, a lot of analysts don't grade you by your avg #'s you put up a night to declare how good of player you are. There's plenty of 1 season dandys in hockey thatll rip it up one year, then can it the next. basketball has a core of players, night in night out statistically put up the same #'s, 7 seasons in a row, 82 games a season. So skill to play pro basketball to pro hockey is somewhat close.
And tin, if i remember, didn't you start for the Jr. High orange team(the shitty team) and not the black team, so obviously you weren't just making your shots. I dunno what else to compare. Concentration is about the same, hockey players don't get as rattled from the crowd as basketball players, obviously. Playin in a rink with a helmet can't really rattle a hockey players head due to crowd noise. Playin on a level cour thowever can be difficult.shooting at a glass backboard, with you hearing every thing the crowd yells and sluffing it off and continue your game also takes concentration.
Oh and I'd rather limit diversity to sports. It sucks tryin to read foreign names cause you forget em so easily.
