Lately my wireless connection has been semi-unreliable, losing connection here and there and not being able to connect again...

Well in the past few weeks I've noticed a huge jump in the number of wireless networks that are accessible from my house, and it makes sense that they are starting to interfere with each other... Lots of things run on the 2.4ghz band, wireless phones, wifi etc...

There are only so many "channels" on this band, and the interference often overlaps to an additional channel on either side of the one you pick...

We have five computers that use wireless cards at my house, and one access point. Our neighbors have atleast three computers and an AP...

Using Netstumbler I find that I have four GoMoorhead AP's in range...

It's kind of bullshit that its getting so congested, I feel bad for the people living in highrise apartments in big cities that just have a terrible time...

GoMoorhead has the city of Moorhead blanketed with 1 watt of transmit power coming off of every AP. That is going to be the bulk of your "in house" interference. 2.4GHz and 5.2 and 5.7GHz are both very congested and have been for MANY years. I was fighting 2.4GHz interference 5 years ago down here.

I looked at the map of AP's from GoMo, and just my luck, i'm right in the cross section of like 3-4 transmitters... thats just awesome.
