ludacris is normally one of my favorites but his new disturbing tha peace cd has too much of his crew and they cant rap...i wish he'd give up on them. do they play chamillionaire on the radio right now? i dont listen to y94 that much but they seem like more of a eminem, 50 cent, nelly, and chingy station

thats just the best album from the south i said but i dunno who had a better cd that came out this year. maybe the game? i thought common's cd was overrated, kanye west's wasnt near as good as his first album, the jin cd sucked, and the only underground albums that stuck out were cage "hellz winter" and little brother "the minsterel show".

Well first off, im DEFENTLY not from here! I was raised in ARIZONA AND CALI so i think i can "voice" my opinions about south? I grew up listening to mostly west, and south. So i think i do have "the neccessary requirements" anyone does? it doesnt matter where your from or what your skin color is,everybody has their own opinions on music. Are you saying it's wrong for a "white" guy to rate, judge,or state his opinion about rap albums? Thats like saying a "black"guy cant state his opinion about GREEN DAY or something. These are just opinions of other people, truthfully i bet there are some people up here that know more about rap music then some in cali, new york. I guess it all depends on how much you "read" up on the subject. IMO

Hmm skin color really isnt significant. Also I do have the necessary requirements to make a bold statement about what the hottest album of the year is. But am I going to voice my opinion on a car forum? No.

Ok first off hip hop is not a Southern thing. Get that straight in you little head. In this day and age there are more classifications of hip hop than techno. You do realize you live roughly 3 hours from one of the largest underground hip hop communities in the United State correct? Also how can you be so ignorant towards the idea that someone from North Dakota can know alot about hip hop. Wow your American, how can you know so much about import automobiles?...

Edit: sorry this thread is so long a ridiculous that I had to edit my post with more crap.

Do you realize that Fargo does not have a hip hop radio station. Y-94 is a top forties radio station, do you realize what this means? You are not going to here any underground music or anything for that matter that isnt some pop crap. Also being a top 40station they have to cater to everyone not just the hip hop heads. Go to a real town and listen to a hip hop "rap" station and you will realize how played out most of these songs are. Shit you will not hear over the air here will be played out over the air elsewhere by the time it gets here.

Also chamilionare and Mike Jones style is not new, its been around the underground for years and theres a reason, its not that great, as far a lyrical talent goes. Southern hip hop is a whole different playing field than New York and Midwest hip hop. And basicaly Emo-hop and indy has taken over. Already covered this in another thread. BLAH BLAH BLAH

I agree with you(2slo50h),you have a alot of good points . It is true that CHAMILLIONAIRE'S "style" is old, but thats what makes it so great,IMO. But what about the west? They created a "big part" in the hip-hop scene ie: "gangster rap" Not saying that NEW YORK or THE MID-WEST didnt have any part of that, but the WEST originated it, i think the "old" albums/tracks/artists are better than **SOME**of the new shit that it is out or that has came out. All sides have created something in the hip-hop scene, i believe NEW YORK had the "flos" and the MID-WEST had flos and ALOT of underground! EMINEM is from the MID-WEST(yea i know there are more, i was just giving an example). I dunno, i still feel that CHAMILLIONAIRE'S lyrical skills are very good, alot better than others, but everyone has their own opinion on different artists, and i respect it and yours.

if you were really into hip hop you might know that they do play hip hop on 105.9 tuesday, thursday and saturday nights 🙂 and its not the crap they play on Y94 its hardcore stuff...i was listening one day and they had random people calling in and freestyling...some of the guys in the studio were pretty decent as well...there are actually a few rappers from fargo...i've actually heard a guy named J-sauce in concert when he opened for snoop dogg a couple years back...he was pretty damn good from what i remember...i know he had a few songs on MP3.com and i believe he got a record deal...thats pretty underground...

All in all remember this: It doesn't matter how good ONE album was if they only produced that "good" album. Who are we gonna remember most after years down the road? The people that produced the most controversy in their album or actually did something NEW.

EDIT: I did live in this so called "REAL" town...I don't know if you are trying to prove to me that I don't know what the hell I'm talking about just cause I'm from Moorhead or what, but I definately agree the radio stations here suck. Other than certain hours on 105.9, the only place to get ANY rap music is Y94 and it's all the really popular crap. Sometimes if its cloudy you can pick up B96 or KDWB from the cities. Now, I may say this song sucks or this song is good, but because I don't really understand the roots or emotion that goes into each artist's song, I don't have the balls to say this album is the best from the south. To be honest, I highly doubt there are many people anywhere that really understand what's going on. And I can't believe I just typed all that cause I really don't care that much. 😛

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Once again though I dont live in Fargo anymore, so I guess I did not know about 105.9 that plays hip hop 3 nights a week. Also J-sauce is alright, I haven't heard anyone say that guys name in years. LOL. He used to live in a friend of mines basement I have no idea if he has a record deal, but I know alot of other MC's in Fargo that could quite easily hand him his ass. Not trying to start a arguement just stating common knowledge.

Also no track of the week but check out Jan19@VFW. Kanser and Silentarmy from MNLPS and The Crest from Madison are going to be in the basemnet and should be a good show, along with some local talent the Me & You Crew.

Well, if there is no underground scene in fargo, how do you know a lot of other MC's in Fargo that could quite easily hand him his ass? 😛

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

I never said there is not a scene in Fargo?! Where are you getting this from?
                                          EDIT:

You obviously have not read anything I have wrote ever on any of the music threads. All I have done is support local talent, MNLPS, Fargo and other midwest hip hop. When did I say there is no local talent or scene?
