i can say i have met only a few people from this board. and some of them i knew many years before i joined.
so mayb that needs to be something i do this summer. meet and greet more members of fargostreet and tintmasters forums.Monty

its a little too late to get a bunch of stuff on the schedule this year for Devils Run, but I will be contacting Stan about doing a seperate-yet-included import show for 2007 with some of the things you've mentioned above.
-
i understand. i was just spewing forth things as a question was asked.
whether or not they go anywhere is not up to me. i was just inputting things.
i am sure if more thought was put into this more and or better things forthe region might come up.Monty

I agree 100% Monty, this could be as big of an import show as it is a classic car show if done right (well, maybe not quite as big...anyways.....) I plan to talk with Stan as soon as this year gets done and discuss options for next year. I'm open to input on what you'd all like to see and while I can't guarantee every option will come to realization, I will try and make it a fun-for-all type of show.
-
with the help of Devils Run of course
-
and that is the whole point. a fun time for all to be had at such an event.
i know i have been to some events and loved them from beginning to end i have been to others to only like some of it. but i think that is the norm as you cannot please everyone. but if there is enough to make it worth the time, effort and money then you should get a nice cross section of people to attend.
good luck with this.Monty

what about getting MECA to come? as i see they will be in ND in july sometime. i forget if it was minot or where though. they made two visits last summer and i learned of them after they were done.
with MECA you have this cool boom and zoom contest. step to the plate and make your SPL run then drive a few feet forward to the tree and make a 1/4 or 1/8 run. throw those numbers in a formula and you have your score. there is more than just this, but it is a cool idea as many imports talk big and pound big. this gets them to put up or shut up. but can be applied to muscle and just daily cars too. so you may be slow, but if you are loud it should even out.what about checking a NOPI schedule of events to see what is done there? like burnout, hopping, bikini, foam, drag racing, car audio, nopi chicks, hot chicks, not sure if drifting is part of that yet or not, car show...
we noticed at the prime steel show the lack of chicks posing with cars and such. as we had just gotten back from HIN and were loving that part of the show.
i would love to do the stereo thing, but not gonna go through with the time and effort if there are not going to be many doing it.
i will just show up with the crew and hang and enjoy the weekend.Monty
This is a family type event and i'm willing to bet stan and devils lake wants to keep it that way.... tis one of the reasons it has grown to as large as it is.... chuck is right no strip closest is harvey 1/8 [EDIT BY TJAMZ= NO RACES IN HARVEY THIS YEAR, THE FAA SHUT DOWN ALL AIRPORT DRAGRACES...expect a 1/4 mile track in the next year or two however].... burnouts, rappoffs, flame throwing, balance beam already happen on a downtown street on friday evening/night.... if i remeber right last year stan asked me about the dyno thing and we talked about it i think he is doing that himself this year so it's not depending on that mike that tryed to screw the dyno guy by not giving him his advance or having a good spot for him (not on the gravel)

that is another great thing about Stan with the devils run he is always open to suggestions on devils run. he's not like some of the oldschool guys that we know of that hate the new stuff he is open to it as long as it's tastfully done and is family friendly their are a ton of families that show up with their kids and personaly i think little girls walking around like ho's isn't something he would go for nor would the town with having been stuck in the town for 29 years i know the town wouldn't... their lack of tolerance in that town is as low as i've ever seen

I live here in good ol Devils Lake, This years Devils Run is spose to have more to do than any of the previous years with possible airplane rides, a blackhawk helicopter landing in the park on sunday...Stan Orness the guy who puts on most of the stuff has been trying to incorporate more of the things to include more imports. He thinks it is great to get some of the newer cars in there along with the old classics. I usually have a party that weekend at my house i know a few people came out last year and jumped on the trampoline and had a blast with that. but the bad part is i live down 3 miles of gravel.Hey, i remeber that, Shane was drunk, and people were alomost falling into the lake, other people were jumping off the dock, that was on land mind you......and then we all drove in town to sleep, LOL that was great.

i understand it is a family thing. i made suggestions about what the tuner crowd might enjoy at an event they attend. i did not say it had to be that way.
but a slow move to bring the old and new together is better than nothing. as they are both here to stay. may as well live and play nice together.Monty

I'm out....I do have a room at comfort inn however if anyone wants to buy it...have it friday and saturday
-

i think there are 6 of us.Monty

well i had my annual devils run party this year and it was bigger than last years and was crazy as hell. we has dvx 400 doing burnouts in the driveway, it started to rain so we ended up going into the garage. dranks lots of beer, people went skinny dipping since i live by the lake, and then when people left 2 people drove into a slough, a ford explorer and i am guessing the other was a 1997 camry. it was a blast.

I just got back, and will post pictures later.
Willtaketopoff I saw your car there along with the other imports. I was driving around my dad's loud-ass black Firebird, black slicks & skinnys stickers. I was in the burn out contest, man it was the best weather!!
