Bobcat Employees?
-
I was wondering if there is anyone on here who isworking or has worked for bobcat, or knows a close family member or friend who does. I am looking into taking a job and moving to guinner(spelling) since starting wage is around 14 dollars per hour. Was just wondering if anyone on here could give me a heads up about anything.
Thanks, Joel -
you start at 12 for your first 6 weeks of probation, then it jumps to 19 i believe, around 20 if you can weld. time and a half for saturdays and you have the option to go in on sundays for double time. triple time for holidays. You start with a small amount of vacation but i think after a year or two it jumps up to 2 weeks.

if you are going out to bobcat to weld all I can say is good luck, I have worked with alot of guys that are pretty awesome welders but didn't pass the test at bobcat. not to say it's impossible but it's pretty tough. 100% X-ray I believe.
-
the funny thing is, is that they dont pay shit to get them shipped..... there always trying to screw us.... damn them
and if you want to become a welder there... you need to become certified in the type of weld you need to do, and they will x-ray it to so if it is a good enough weld..... my guess is that you havent done much welding, so i would suggest some classes....
if you looking for a welding job, why dont you become certified for a weld at DMI..... they pay about the same... oh... and its Gwinner
-
you dont need any previous certification, they train you there and you test there. The only welding you would really be doing is tacking, the rest is done with robots. And even if you dont pass the welding test, which i only know of one person who failed, they just put you somewhere else. You will be just fine. But if i where you i would try for assembly, there are some people there who make 19 an hour to put the bobcat decal on the side on them... but all in all its still gwinner and it sucks, but the money is good.

Actually getting hired is another story. Theres a long list of applicants there. I applied over a year ago and haven't heard anything since. I did tour the plant though, and I was beyond impressed, it was very organized and clean, I would love to work there. One of my buddies got hired there, inside connections, and he said he loves it there. He said an 8 hour shift just seems to fly by, but you will be working 6 days a week when you start so there's plenty of overtime. You get damn good money and work all the time so at least it's easy to save up, great for guys working on there cars. It's a little spendy to live in gwinner but lisbon is only 15-16 miles a way and is a lot cheaper place to live, plus fargo is only about 45 minutes away.

Thanks for all of your help guys, keep the info coming.
Parker, I took 2 welding classes in highschool and was best in my class. We were trained in Oxy, wire feed and stick. I can weld almost anything with a 6011 6013 or 7014 rod.
As long as I have a computer with internet and an xbox, I could live in an 8x8 cubicle and never be bored. I will be going in on Sunday for the interviewing process and will post how it goes. THanks again guys,

I worked for bobcat 2 summers ago for just the summer....it is kinda difficult to get on at bobcat.....if you were a girl...you would get hired without a doubt because they have to hire girls.....
But like a4matt said i would try getting on the assembly line....its very easy but your doing the same thing every day.....
There is also Fargo Assembly in Lisbon and they make the wiring harnesses for bobcat..but they dont pay as well as bobcat.
But Joel if you want to make real money ..talking 60-80k starting......let me know and i can give you a number to the place i will be working at soon ( CPR) Canadian Pacific Railway....easy work and great pay and benefits....but away from home quite a bit.

U will be bored out of ur mind if u move to gwinner. Valley is a better choice, the guys carpool from there to gwinner so its a free ride, maybe chip in for gas im not sure.
