Why the changes?
-
I haven't deleted a single topic that was by Tintmasters Employees that had been on topic or not purely for their benefit. The ONLY time ANY of them contribute to the Fargostreet.com community is when they feel that they can get some sort of personal gain from it. Do you see them posting on a daily basis? No. Do they offer any useful information? No.
Was I originally biased against them? Not in the least bit.
In fact, when Fargostreet.com started I visited their shop a few times, visited with Shane and all. They seemed to be fairly nice guys. What changed?
They originally claimed that they were out for the benefit of the "import" community in Fargo. In all actuality, their shop talks more shit about other people and other businesses then any other. For example, I raced Jerry at the track, did I lose? Yup. Did I admit it? Yup. Did I ask to have another race? Sure thing. But when I tried talking to him the next track day he wouldn't even talk to me, nor would he even be friendly about it. That's exactly what the "Import" community doesn't need. Snobby people, who won't talk, people who only are out for personal gain, and people that are complete assholes about things.
So you all may ask, why am I partial to a particular business. Well, many of you may have seen last night, its not that I'm partial to a business, its the people and how they operate. Last night is a good example, a civic that had been ghetto'd at tintmasters broke down on 13th ave. Brian and I pulled in to see what was up, ended up all of his wiring was wrong, so we ran back, got some help from Kevin, and even though he was just about to leave to go home for the day, he had no problem helping push, and jump start the car many times.
So basically, being a nice person pays off. Self-interest, being an asshole, and not being true to your word gets you no where.
Below is a quote from Tintmasters.net (which by the way many of us were banned from for no particular reason):

Just wanted to let everyone know on the site, that many of us tintmaster employees have tried to respond to individuals and questions on www.fargostreet.com and if Mr. Tufte or Mr. Jim didn't like our advice, or think we beat them to the punch, they deleted it... So if any of you are looking for an overall concensus ask on www.fargostreet.com, then post here, cause chances are the toolsheds over at SLS will delete what we have to say.

FYI Jason i have never deleted any of your posts or any of your employee's posts that regarded to any advice you offered anyone on this board. I am not biased towards anyone or any shop as was discussed after last nights dilemma. If you dont treat your customers right they are gonna walk and they have every right to do so.
This is Jim's board and if he wants to delete anything its up to him it's his and he can do what he wants w/ it. Apparently you have nudged him in the wrong way and put a bad taste in his mouth.
Last nights issue had nothing to do w/ anyone bad mouthing anything until it snowballed when your employees came by. The kid's car was stranded he asked for some help to get it going. We fixed the intitial charging problem and got the car up and running but it has many more problems than just that.
As far as the toolshed comment goes, not to be cocky or anything but last time i checked every time we ran your street legal nights we seemed to have the fastest/quickest cars out there. We make the most power, we run the quickest ET's, we run the fastest mph, etc.. Sounds like we're a bunch of retards if you ask me. Until you build a fast car, make some decent power or anything of that nature i dont think you should be spitting out the toolshed comments. I build allmy own motors,i setup all my own cars,i do allmy own tuning, and we do all our own fabrication in house, can you say that for yourself? Toolshed??
Update SLS integra goes 13.5@100. 150,000 mile stock longblock.....We only know DSM's!!!

Well said nick, impressive run on the teggy....just goes to show your knowledge on motor's in general. I was curious if you could arrange a time to help me with some spark issues I have I need to buy some new plugs then too, could ya please email me at [email protected] or just give me an IM? Thanks again.

Pretty sure thats not the reason. From my look on it, it seems people in this area are scared of going for serious performance via built motors, turbo's, nitrous, etc.... The more people i talk to say they wanna go fast but they dont seem to be following threw w/ it. Wether it be a $$ issue or simple fear or turbo's, nitrous, etc. i still have yet to figure out. But it does seem that the change to performance is finally coming around in our area.

Maybe jim,the reason that they can,and have faster cars it that they can get parts for way cheaper then what they are selling it to us for..(you think?) :evil:I didn't really understand the question here... but I don't think it has much to do with money / getting parts. Honestly, just about anybody can go online and buy cheap parts... So thats prob has nothing to do w/ it.
Which people w/ faster cars are you talking about? just wondering...

Manny, Tintmaster's doesn't have faster cars. SLS is home to the fastes quickest DSM in the state. Along with 1 guy who makes a stock integra run 15 flat, and a asian who makes... well makes this site cool. Projects like turboing a Miata and Civic make you think, maybe isn't all about "sponsors" or whatever you were talking about, but rather the knowledge and love of it.
*also off topic, the other day, while dynoing the 2BNVD 'teg, I notice a car on fire, it was none other than the Grand am Ram air, trying to purge and ended up blowing up his car, Nice work Jerry! (titnmasters did the install)
-
nah its not really tintmasters fault for the grand am blowing up...he put nitrous in a stock grand am gt thats the only problem with it...it was gonna blow up sometime...i mean it could be somethin wrong with the install but i think it shows what happens when you get a little nitrous happy

I will post this from a tintmasters response, not a personal response....
Lately more and more trash talking has erupted from everyone, ourselves included. Maturity lacking, yes... But at the same time, a lot of our shit talking comes as a response to other peoples suggestive opinions and then those that arent educated on the subject posting their opinions. Jerry has a hot temper at times, and when you get under his skin it is hard to get back on the good side... That is just how he is. In regards to my comment about 'toolshed', that was in response to a post to a kid that posted in the introductions area about his integra and what he could do to make it faster. I put a lot of info on that post and didn't say 'you MUST come to our shop', I simply tried to educate the kid with some options. I looked the next day to see if he responded and my post was gone and PSI2HI had posted with different wording but nearly the same information! That irritated me big time! Fargo Street was for the community, but it turned into what SLS wanted on and off the forum... That was my point. Yes this is Jim's board and he can do whatever he pleases, but if HE is gonna claim it is for the community, then let other shops offer their info and let the kid decide what shop suits him. I apologize for the spur of the moment comment to Nick and the SLS guys. I personally have tried to stay out of the millions of cock fights on this forum and I do understand something had to be done to stop it, but blocking people from posting legit comments isn't right IMO. I along with Tufte and everyone that grew up in Fargo know about how shop drama goes. Type R was the start of the import scene 'shops' in town and as soon as tintmasters came, people came to tintmasters....Then everyone thought they HAD to pick one shop over the other... WHY? Caleb had a few issues at first, but was still a fairly knowledgable guy and could do whatever...Just took some extra time! Then came Autowerx, SLS, and Roadsounds.... Now we have 5 shops for everyone to post about how one is better than the other! Do the guys at SLS know DSM's? YES Can they work on other imports as well? YES Have I sent some of the customers that came to tintmasters to SLS if I felt they could get their goals acheived better there? YES... I have long wished that all the shops could help each other and get along so we could host a HUGE event funded by 5 shops and not a few minor events that are funded by one or 2 shops! The Jerry vs. Jim race was made into a much bigger dilemma then needed... People come into the shop with the 'he said this, he said that' and 'tufte and kevin spent hours making Jims car faster just to beat Jerry' So Jerry wasn't about to jump on the interstate KNOWING he would get his butt kicked......which in all reality from a roll it shouldn't be a challenge ever between those 2 cars. Common sense... so if nobody else will say it, JIM'S CAR WILL BEAT JERRY'S FROM A ROLL HANDS DOWN! Now all that BS can stop. I know it, Jerry knows it, Tufte knows it, and Jim knows it. DONE I know this post will not make everything all honky dorey, but it is my attempt to put all the BS at rest....
Now in response to the 'ghetto'd' install in the civic hatchback... that is a long story that I could never write enough about... Basically, the kid HAD to have the car for the Valley City car show 'or else'... Rushing a motor swap isn't the best way in an terms... The car was worked on all week to try and meet his request, but when speed sensors, and other stuff is broken we were left scrambling to next day parts to try and get him satisfied. Come Friday deadline, the car was not ready, and was promised to get done as soon as we could... He didn't accept that and took the car regardless. He was fully informed it wasn't ready, and that we would not warranty any part of it if it blew up... He took his chance and found out really fast how not ready it was. It was NEVER promised to be done by Friday, rather Shane told him that we would stay late whenever possible (often to 4 in the morning), to try and help him out. You just can't rush stuff like that, and when you do, you get the exact result that he experienced. B16A into a HX is NOT a overnight job, especially when you are adding a full skunk 2 head, machine shop, and other issues with the car (it was once on fire, and the motor harness was fried in many places).....
In response to the individual saying that the kid 'purged the nitrous and it blew up'.... You are very uneducated on the subject of nitrous.... You don't purge a car and it 'blows up'... The kid had the bottle on, used it down 25th st, had a nitrous backfire into the intake (kid said he heard a 'pop' when he got off WOT) and it started the weapon R paper filter on fire which lead to the car fire. The father and kid are understanding and accept the facts. And no nitrous doesn't NOT blow up cars, and no it is not inevitable to happen. Things CAN happen when you use nitrous unsafe i.e. not purging, using it excessively, inproper installation.....
-
as much as jerry would like to hear that jim did it just for him...jim did not make his car faster JUST to beat jerry...believe it or not people make cars fast for their own benefit other than beating one specific person...and the reason he got challenged is cause he was talkin big about having the faster car and jim said ok lets see whos faster and he wouldnt back his shit up...so if he thinks his car is faster or wants to talk like it is then he needs to back it up...and if he knows jim his car is gonna get walked away from then he needs to come to terms with that...alright im done
-
A few quick things:
I'd agree with you that this whole thing hasn't been the most mature way to approach it, in fact its pretty dumb. Look, I don't know Jerry, I really have never talked to him. So I can't claim that I know him in person... If I had known him before all this shit, prob been cool. I don't really know how it all got started, but I dont really care, and really, his car did own me at the track no doubt. Before I said anything about that Hatch, this is my fault, prob should have had all the facts, but you all know how spurting things out happens.
About the nitrous comment, I dont think that guy knew what he was talking about at all...
We all are mad, why? I don't really know... However, I commend you for not just going off on the posts, as provactive as they may have been. After I think about it, theres not real reason to be actually mad...

We have nothing to do w/ deleting your posts norwould it benefitmein any way to do so. As my post in that thread stated for the membertopost his qiestions in the vendor form formore information and pricing. I didn't even get a chance to read what you had posted or knew it existed.nismoluvr wrote:

I kinda see this myself as i have made a few posts on your guys board as well and haven't even got any responce to those and they are directly regarding some of the events you host and have coming up in the near future.

But i've stopped by Roadsounds, Autowerx and Type Ron random occurance w/o any drama.

The shitty thing is is that i get the BS from everyone from a few employess over there stating we dontknow what were doing, yada yada. Jerry just the other day stated to someone i myself didn'tknow what i wasdoing and he did because he was ASE certified and trained. As well as the day of the civic as far as the hadgasekt goes telling me i dont know what how to do this and he's done 50 head gaskets w/o any leaks.

IMO if you dont have any cars out of the streets or @ the track it doesn't show what you or your business cando or are capable of doing. Thats my inspiration to doing a wide variety of cars w/ different setups.

Once again it'scompetition if you start the race and talk smack about it dont get pissed if you get shit for it because you wont come back out and finish it up. It should be some inspiration to make yourown cars faster. I know it wasfor Jim, he took a beating the first time now he's quite a bit faster and wants to take a shot@it again but not it just turns into a big pissing match. And there was no hours and hours spent tomake his car faster just to beat Jerry. He simply added a UIC pipe and a mbc. Anyone whoknows boosted cars knowsambc will make the car reallycome alive, let alone on a DSM.

There is just to many liabilities to come back and kick you in the ass. If you willing knowthe vehicle isn't ready state that to the customer becauser if you send it out the door half ass to please 1 guy and it turns out bad you'regonna pick up a bad rep for it like what just happened on this civic. I'd rather have 1 unhappy customer thatn 10 customersseeing the results of a car let go unfinsihed.

A nitrous backfire just doesn't happen w/o something being faulty. Wether it be a mechanical error, parts failure, wiring error or installation error idk.
My post here was in no way intended to start drama or make accusations or insulting comments to anyone. It is just my stated opinion on each event and how they have went down and how they have been handled. I will leave this thread open for any Tintmasters employess or other board members to post thought and opinions on trhe events and results. Any stupid comments, member bashing, etc. will not be tolerated and you will be gone. This thread will be locked @ the end of the dayso it gives time for anyone to makea final post.

I'll try to follow this up as best I can, but coming after that huge post won't be easy. Being one who doesn't have jack sh!t for knowledge, I enjoy having many different shops to visit, and get to know people in the area who are big time into cars. I was a poser from the second I sat down in Safari watching F&F and I will be glad to admit it. More than likley I come off as nothing more than a pest @ sls when I hang around, but I'm really trying to learn more and more about all aspects of the import game. Tintmasters was there when I was into neons and bodykits, and now for me, I want to steer more towards the "go-fast". Sorry about my lack of knowledge about N20, I'm learning. I kinda said that w/o even thinking about that. Just like when I asked if 4ornia was the guy who drove the Civic, because I wanted to know if he was the one who came to KFC often. NOW... everytime I see him,for instance the foocourt @ the mall today, He looks like he's gonna kill me! And I'll be the first to admit, that guy intimidates me ALOT! Me and my stupid mouth... :?
BTW, why is my User name RLN5CYL blocked?

I am very impressed that a positive conversation can come about from both ends of this ongoing blah blah blah... I have told everyone at this shop that they are not to respond to any bad mouthing or taunting posts... It simply isn't worth it, and when they do post a hate comment it reflects on the shop, as well as their charactor. There are individuals here that can't/won't/don't get along with individuals at those shops, but I know that we are all adults and those that are willing to be friendly, and courteous should be able to, and those that want to have a problem can do it on their own time, and off the board, I know that things in the past have been said/implied/done that have upset people, but there has to be a time when we all say enough is enough and time to grow up and stop. I can't babysit everybody, but I hope that particular employees here respect my decision to stay off this board unless they have help or info for others, and I will post more positive/helpful info on the board for the guys with questions as opposed to posting strict 'tintmasters' stuff. We all are in this game to make money yes, but we also are in this game to help promote the car scene in Fargo/Moorhead. I will leave it at that, and hope that everybody can settle this and call it square and start fresh... An event at the Fargodome or Civic Center can't be done with just one shop, but if we can get funding from all 5 shops, we could really show the FM area that we ALL are about the import community.... Keep it friendly, keep it fun, and good luck to all at Minnesota Mayhem down the road!
*A side note, on Saturday at noon we are having a show N shine in front of the shop to just hang out and bs, so anybody that wants to come and bring their cars and grills whatever please feel free. SLS/Autowerx guys, it would be nice to see some fully built dsm's show up.... It is free to anyone, and hope after all this today, I can see a few people from other shops bring their toys... This IS NOT a car show, just hang out and have some fun.
