I hope it dosen't break again, as John will have to sell his girlfriend to pay to fix it again.

I know the engine is sound and is not knocking, but it does sound like a diesel missing the downpipe gaskets.

But it if were my car I would drive it a little and then sell it, and if it broke, blow it up and report it stolen.:p

I was just curious why it took 2.5 months to get a motor in and running? And also that car already had a 6 bolt motor in it before so all the extra work that there is, which is hardly anything, was already done. If you ask me the ONLY way to do a 6 bolt swap is the way that it was done, no need to modify the oil pump and passages or whatever the hell some people have done in the past.

It should have take less than 2 weeks, origionally I planned to have this car done no later than feb 1st.

It started out with me ripping his Laser apart for the engine in the second week of janurary, got the eclipse the following weekend. It wasn't until I had the over 2 weeks after I got the engine until I got the pistons and rods so it could go to the machine shop. After the engine was done, I realized John was sent the wrong gasket kit, so another week of waiting for gaskets to show up. Finally 5 weeks after I started trhis project the engine was comming together, then I started to find parts were missing. After about a week of screwing around to find out what was missing, I told John it would be better to buy a parts car. Took about 3 weeks for him to find me that parts car, a 95 gsx. took 1 day and a half to rip it apart and start bolting the parts to the engine, I got the engine and tranny in the car about 8 days ago and have been working until now to get all the wiring and everyhting else figured out and connected. Now that its runing I am still waiting on the transfer case, he should have had a long time ago. So as you can see it takes John forever to get what is needed. My work was quick, his parts finding was another story.

Here's a list of some the parts that were missing:
            transfer case
            Tranny mount
engine mount that bolts to block
            Power steering pump bracket
            A/C bracket
            Cross memeber hardware
            fuel pressure regulator and hardware
            alternator
            handfull of sensors
            rear engine plate
            Shifter linkage mounts
            and tons more stuff

Dosen't knock, downpipe isn't fully connected to the manifold, which is making a huge exhaust leak, when we get the "diesel engine nosie" as John puts it. It actually sounds like a exhaust leak, which is right being their are no downpipe gaskets.

Well it now runs pretty good. Kevin helped me figure out the plug wires were on wrong, but ya know shit happens. It actually drives now and pulls really hard. Still got a couple issues though, got a check engine light after driving it and the idle kept hunting between 1000 and 1500. So gotta read the codes and do a little more fine tuning.

I know, its unbelievable. The car still needs some work but, as far as running and driving, it seems to have no problems. I took it out for a spin again this morning and geez its fun to drive, damn thing is a lot faster than my old camaro. When the turbo spools up it throws you back in the seat.

But otherwise it will still need some tinkering. PS pump is wining like a dying animal and the bearings in the AC compressor are going bad, Speedo isn't working for stome reason and the damn car rides like a lumber wagon, it has no suspension travel.

But damn its gunna be gone in a few days after I have had it for 3 months. Well on to the next projects, finally.

The fuel pump may be aftermarket and should "bring the noise".

If it has a Walbro pump, expect the whine its normal.

You have to ground it better to get rid of the whining noise, and even then it doesnt completely go away.
