My plans
-
Well, After selling the civic, I have a little bit of money left over. I decided trying to get a random project car running in 2 months would not only be a huge disaster but a lot of money spent that wouldn't need to be. After talking to Chuck and my parents, I have decided to save the money and attend mobile dynamics in Phoenix. I will be signing up for the october-november session within the next week.

Founded in 1990 Mobile Dynamics has the distinction of being the industry's oldest training institution. From its humble beginnings, Mobile Dynamics has grown to become North America's largest training facility. We serve the United States in our state of the art Phoenix Campus. Mobile Dynamics has introduced over 3000 new installation professionals to the exciting field of consumer electronics installation.Mobile Dynamics is honored to continue to serve, not only its students, but also the industry that we all love. Whether helping M.E.C.P develop the first ever national installer testing programs or helping an international big box chain store develop internal training for their staff of thousands, Mobile Dynamics provides a valued service to the entire consumer electronics industry.
I will be taking EVERY class they have to offer. After that I plan to see what kind of jobs I am offered. I would like to stay in the fargo area but I don't know about the market here...
I feel I made the right decision compared to keeping my car and not going to school. -
Mobile dynamics looks like a sweet school. I checked them out last year. Good Luck Joel

Congrats on a good choice Joel. Given your passion about cars/car audio, I think this is an excellent move for you. As for staying local, I think you can do it, just realize that until you've established yourself as competent, you will be starting at the bottom of the totem pole with most shops. However, since you will have the training necessary to succeed you should move up in position and pay at a decent rate once you get good at it and prove yourself.
Oh...and don't forget to ask a LOT of questions. They cover quite a bit and its easy to get buried if you don't understand something...this isn't highschool, this is your future, you will want to understand everything they teach as it will make school and your career so much easier.

Oh...and why Phoenix? Go to Toronto! (You're legal to drink up there)

(You're legal to drink up there)Two of my cousins went to mobile dynamics, one a few years back and the other is there now, they both loved it, plus when there big sister pays for every thing that helps too. I really wanted to go also but I've got to many bills to pay as it is right now.
I was gonna say toronto also because it's closer, but unless you really like the metric system, phoenix is the place to go. No standard to metric conversions to do then metric to standard again when you come back. -
wouldn't matter, he'd have to be 19 to drink in Ontario

While in Tempe, might as well go visit the Rockford Fosgate facility.
