for a graduation/birthday present i think i am getting a laptop. i am looking for suggestions on what to get as far a brands and options. i dont know what the price limit will be.

I have been looking at a dell xps, and a sony vaio.

options i have been looking at

around 15 inch screen, 1gb DDR ram, 2.0 gig processer or faster, external video card 256mb ddr. ect

i have never had any problem with my sony vaio, but dell is also a very good brand and has excellent customer service.

Sofar my favorite laptop in my Sony Vaio, Damn thing can do anyhting, its much faster than my home computer and that was supposed to be really fast.

both, i want a good fast computer with good battery life that isnt going to take a crap on me and be stupid. my laptop right now the battery lasts like 45min with out being plugged in. wieght size are not a concern so portibility isnt that important,

I'm happy with my Toshiba. 1G ram, 100GB HD, Graphics card is pretty weak but I didn't buy it for that.

get a dell, but if you do, make SURE you get the GOOD warranty...thats the BEST thing to look for when buying a laptop...

i plan on getting the best warranty i can. always have with computers after my first laptop. i went through 6 screens, cept fryn them. then they up and gave me a new one for free

i have a line of laptops available to me as well, its a little higher priced because it uses all name brand components(i think the high-mid leve one is like maxed out at $1400 or so, geforcego 6600 graphics etc), the best warranty available is 2years...

if you want shitty battery life...actually they have gotten better but im happy with a 15'', afterall its a freakin laptop...ive had laptops that had 9.5'' screens and at the time, that was the shit

Totally agreed, ever since they got in serious financial trouble their stuff has cheaped up and been absolute CRAP! I had some of their older stuff and its really really high quality. But that was when they ruled the market...
