I can get laptops Dustin...I can quote you out something if you want. Dell is good for their warranty, they will always stand behind their product.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

My Gateway is a pile of shit.

Also, do NOT buy a laptop from best buy.

I agree with that, don't buy shit from best buy they give you the run around.

I would only purchase from Dell...

Brian, my friend lily and I all have the same laptop (the 700m series) and I can say we are all very pleased with it...

The difference between AMD and Intel processors is marginal at best, for the normal user, you will never be able to tell the difference in performance; however Intel is proven to have better battery life in laptops.

I used to be a die hard AMD fan, and I do own AMD stock, but now all of my computers are Intel based...

You could have bad luck from any computer company, hell they almost use identical components in all of them. Motherboard / Memory / Harddrive failure is most closely associated with power issues, and there are so many variables that go in to it, its hard to say what caused it.

All I have to say is that, if you go and read major reviews from independent companies, Dell is rating among the highest in nearly every category.

I bought my HP from Best Buy, probably didn't get the best deal..But, I love the computer. It has the Centrino processor and does everything I have ever needed very well. Personally, I like the look and feeling of my HP over anything else I have used. Like Jim says, most of the hardware components are practically identical between manufacturers, so I choose something that I liked and had a good processor. My 2 cents..

I got my sony Vaio from best buy 7 months ago. It was a hell of a deal, since it was on sale for $600 off regular price, and has been the nicest laptop I have ever owned. My brother got his laptop from newegg.com. and they have some good deals sometimes too. But I am not sure. I really like the sony's and dislike the dell's and gateways.

I have found the best way to buy computers from best buy though is to research them through reviews and internet sites, asking the computer guys at bestbuy is stupid because all they want is to make a sale. I knew what I wanted and looked at a bunch on best buys website and when I found the one I wanted , I baught it online and picked it up in the store, took 2 minutes to pick it up. Only way to bypass the bullshit.

has anyone recommending DELL had to talk to there customer service? yeah they honor there warranty, but when your comp is down for 2 1/2 months because them mother fuckers cant understand you, it is quite aggravating. 3 weeks ago i finally gave in and got on there online chat. from 3pm to 10:30 at night. and the fuckers still werent sure exactly what was wrong. so my GF finished up @ midnight. 2 days later the parts were at our door and then the next day one of there service guys came and installed the parts.
well i am not sure if all companies customer service is based out of afghanistan, but dell for sure is.

yeah they do. i almost bought a laptop from them with a mobile 64 bit amd processor.

dell is by far your best option. a good friend of mine got his monitor broken by his roommate a couple years ago. he called them around 4:00 on a monday afternoon and by 5:00 the very next day a UPS guy was there to drop off a brand new monitor and to pick up his broken one. no questions asked, no extra charge.

dont EVER buy a laptop from best buy. if it breaks, they either wont honor their warranty or theyll take months to fix it. ive heard way too many horror stories about that place to buy anything computer related from them.

I have called Dell's support and I haven't had too much trouble with them at all... Just tell them its broken and they will send a label and a box for you send it back.

Indian call centers are common place, I think you'll find most major computer companies have the 1st level support there... including sony, compaq (HP), dell, etc...

I've had terrible experiences with best buy previously, and swore not to buy another laptop there...

Oh and your right, Dell does do AMD, alot of thier servers run AMD Chips as well, and its been in the news lately that they are looking to adopt AMD chips across the board soon

Sure some companies stand behind their warranty and whatever, but how about a laptop that doesn't break, and doesn't NEED to use the warranty. THAT is what some people want!!

And it was the best price I could find for a comparable system.
