has anyone recommending DELL had to talk to there customer service? yeah they honor there warranty, but when your comp is down for 2 1/2 months because them mother fuckers cant understand you, it is quite aggravating. 3 weeks ago i finally gave in and got on there online chat. from 3pm to 10:30 at night. and the fuckers still werent sure exactly what was wrong. so my GF finished up @ midnight. 2 days later the parts were at our door and then the next day one of there service guys came and installed the parts.
well i am not sure if all companies customer service is based out of afghanistan, but dell for sure is.

      dell don't do AMD

yeah they do. i almost bought a laptop from them with a mobile 64 bit amd processor.

dell is by far your best option. a good friend of mine got his monitor broken by his roommate a couple years ago. he called them around 4:00 on a monday afternoon and by 5:00 the very next day a UPS guy was there to drop off a brand new monitor and to pick up his broken one. no questions asked, no extra charge.

dont EVER buy a laptop from best buy. if it breaks, they either wont honor their warranty or theyll take months to fix it. ive heard way too many horror stories about that place to buy anything computer related from them.

I have called Dell's support and I haven't had too much trouble with them at all... Just tell them its broken and they will send a label and a box for you send it back.

Indian call centers are common place, I think you'll find most major computer companies have the 1st level support there... including sony, compaq (HP), dell, etc...

I've had terrible experiences with best buy previously, and swore not to buy another laptop there...

Sure some companies stand behind their warranty and whatever, but how about a laptop that doesn't break, and doesn't NEED to use the warranty. THAT is what some people want!!

well I'll admit, I picked up my laptop at Best Buy. Haven't had a problem with it to have to deal with their warranty shit...

And it was the best price I could find for a comparable system.

Toshiba Satellite. P4 790 (like 2.1Ghz IIRC), 1G ram, yadda yadda...
