Pistons vs Pacers

Ben Wallace should get a longer suspension, since he started everything. What did Reggie Miller do? The man is injured, 1 game suspension for Reggie is a joke.
-
he left the team bench premises or something. But if that happened the whole team shoulda gotten it. But yeah, ben wallace sucks now.

i think that the fans deserved it 100% If that fucking idot that threw the cup of ice at ron artest was walking down the street and saw a black guy doing somthing he didnt approve of would he just throw somthing at him?? FUCK NO!!!
because he would get his ass beat. but because the guy is playing basketball its ok?
i think no player should have got any punishment..... dont ever desrespect a man you cant whip<--(grandfather) told me that shit along time ago and its true to this day.. -
I kinda disagree here, while I don't condone throwing stuff at the players I certainly don't condone the athletes taking swipes at people in the stands. If thats the case the entire Minnesota Gophers hockey team should go up into the crowd @ Engelstad arena and beat the shit out of everyone for throwing dead gophers onto the ice at the Minnesota players.
There were video cameras on the guy throwing the beverage at the player....find that guy and fine him or whatever, but geez, don't jump into the crowd. And Jerry, if someone threw water/ice/beer on you on the street and you proceded to kick his ass that wouldn't mean that you aren't going to be subjected to fines/punishment.
just my 2 cents.
-
yea chuck you are right i might be subjected to fines or punishment etc.. but i bet you that the guy throwing somthing might think twice next time about throwing somthing at me. Its so funny to me, people around here or maybe its people not from big citys.. but the mentality of (well i can do whatever or say whatever i want to you and you cant do anything about it cuz ill call the cops??)
what in the hell.....it blows my mind -
I'm not saying I wouldn't have retaliated either, all I'm saying is that the video cameras showed the guy throwing the drink and they might have been able to fine him or whatever, now he probably won't be fined and like 98exaccord posted, will probably get a settlement. Here's the deal though, if Artest had just picked up the cup and threw it back at the fan nothing would have come of it likely, however by escalating it to fists the player committed the worse offense and will be fined how the league commissioner feels fit.
-
I guess in an act of self defense, artest is to blame. them chairs the guys were sitting on were fold ups, who knows if they would've started chucking them down to artest if he wouldn't of retaliated with the cup. they actually did throw a chair into the scuffle after he attacked them.
-
We are all human some times we can't control our selfs
-
thats a lot of might haves and what ifs. Most likely the fans would not have started throwing chairs, I of course cannot prove this anymore than you can prove they would have if all that happened was the cup got thrown back. You can't charge anyone with something they MIGHT do, all you can do is fine people for what they actually have done. Again, I'm not condoning a fan throwing shit at players, but I certainly don't think a player has a right to go into the stands after someone who threw water/beer/etc....at them. Fighting sure as hell isn't going to resolve the issue, will only make it worse for all involved.
Now, if a chair had been thrown @ a player prior to the fight, then maybe the player has a right to jump into the crowd and go after that guy. Its still not gonna solve anything though....thats why the NBA hires security, to keep fans from rushing the floor and/or attacking the players, let security handle them and all will be fine.
-
yeah just coincidentally the security wasn't in that section.
-
or they were dealing w/ something else. If you all really feel that way, maybe we should just do away w/ security at events and issue all the athletes/performers a handgun on the way in so noone messes w/ them.
