I see exactly what your saying Jim. But here's the thing. They told me they would be there the day before. So I had no way of knowing when they were coming.
edit: I also was never let know they would change the locks, I just told them my key didnt work. My cell phone number is readily available.

you have to be kidding me on the skaff apartments... he buys his shit, lets it get run down and just fixes them enough to barely meet inspections.. goldmark must be doing something right if Rick Berg owns like half this town and has plenty of properties in other cities/states around this area...when u own half the town u dont have to have customer sevice becuz there will always be somebody else to take the place
its all about money to these groups dont expect much
i will never rent again from goldmark or property resources and if they are the only option i will live in a box

Yeah, Anyone think I can get out of my lease because of it? I know its a long shot, but I am getting sick of it... -
yeah joel, give them a chance before you burn them and then they won't want to work with you. But deffinatly get a copy of your full lease and read the WHOLE thing. I always believe if you get into a situation like that to arm yourself with all the information. The lease with Goldmark mostly protects them from you, but there are aspects of it which you can turn on them. Since you signed it, its a legally binding agreement which they are bound to just as much as you are. good luck!

What i'm woundering is why they didn'y just leave the keys in your mail box or something then called you and told you where they were??? but anyway good luck getting them to pay...

i call bullshit on the 24 hour emergency thing. you just supposed to sleep in your car? I would tell them to let you out of your lease as soon as they can have your unit rented. Express to them how you have no hard feelings, you just dont want to be in a situation where you both are unhappy with the contractual agreement. In my lease there was a clause about maintenance, and that is what I contested, unfortunately with no result.
I must forewarn you though. I tried this after some things happened to me at my old apartment and once I was denied, I got nothing but bullshit from the resident manager on a DAILY basis. She would wait for me to come home in the stairwell. She even went as far as letting herself into my apartment and turning my heat up.

maybe you just rented from a shitty section of goldmark i know they have different sections of them... like each "group" is by the area... all the apartments around west acres taht are gold mark are ran by Danburry Apartments or whatever and they are the one's in charge of that area with all the customer service... He didn't get that big by doing somethin shitty...

I seem to think that is against the law, unless you gave her permission or she was showing your apt to prospective renters after you gave her notice you would be moving out.

when they change your locks and youre not home, they cant just leave it open or leave your keys laying around. they cant legally get into your mailbox since thats part of the whole postal system and not operated by the property management. youre supposed to go to the office and pick up the keys. if the office isnt open, youre supposed to be able to call them and have them meet you at the office to pick them up.

So Since I moved into my new apartment, I have heard nothing but bad things about renting from gold mark, but hadn't experienced anything, up until about a month ago, when I moved from an Efficiency to a 2 bedroom. There was lots of stuff wrong with the place when I moved in; The shower was useless, I could piss faster; the previous owner had a cat, and ripped multiple holes in the carpet; The carpet was stretched out; some of the metal shelves were RUSTY,lots of little and big things were wrong with it. I was promised they would be fixed by december first. Well in short, mainentance came to do another "evaluation" took stuff down, made a mess and left. So I called back, they said they would come the next day to fix there rest and clean it up. Never happened. Well last week my lock broke on my apartment, so I had to leave it unlocked unless I was inside. They came to fix it last night(they were supposed to be here the day before) and changed the locks, and didnt leave me a key! well Ihad to work at 6 this morning, and my steel toes and all my work clothes were in my apartment. So I drove back to my parents in Moorhead and stayed on the couch. Went into work this morning and got sent home for the day since I had no steel toes. So I will be losing 156 dollars in wages for today, plus my weekend differential pay for this week which is 71.50. I went and got my keys and told them I want a refund for lost wages on my rent. they havent told me yet whether or not I will get them. Do you guys think what they did is wrong? Was it a violation of my lease? I would like to move in with drifter extreme anyways, but If I can't get out of my lease because of it, I atleast want compensation for the trouble they caused me.Sounds like a scam to me. My sister moved into a apartment like that. Moved out and they told her that she had to pay for the damage! WTF the previous tenant did it! We treaten to take it to court and they changed their minds.

Just to think that they must do that to all the tenants when they move out. Sort of like revenge for not staying! My sister didnt have to pay anything. This wasnt gold mark.
